9th Annual Charlotte Coat Drive

With the warm weather in Charlotte it might seem as if winter is far away... but it'll be here before we know it. The 9th Annual Charlotte Coat Drive has begun and will be collecting coats through November 15th. The 2019 goal is to collect 5,000 coats for the Salvation Army of Greater Charlotte by mid-November.  All coats collected will be distributed to Salvation Army's men, women and children’s shelters and the Boys and Girls Clubs.

Where To Donate Coats

Charlotte Coat DriveSome 50+ donation locations for new and gently-used coats are all over the Charlotte metro area. Click here for the full list of donation locations for the Charlotte Coat Drive. Each of the donation locations have clearly marked docnation barrels.

Patricia Feager, MBA, CRS, GRI,MRP I think many of us forget what we have in our closets and don't realize we can make someone else's life a bit easier by donating things that we don't wear.

James Dray hi James... we should be quite warm into early November... but a cold snap could hit us any time after that. The days here in winter aren't too bad... I rarely wear a coat during the day... but come nightfall and it gets really cold.

Wayne Martin good morning, Wayne... I'm one of those people who cleans out her closets at least twice a year and often as many times as four. No reason to hang on to things that we don't need or use.

Paul S. Henderson, REALTOR®, CRS no doubt about that, Paul. Collections of food are also so important in our area as we have many who live with food insecurity.

I hope that this coat drive is a complete success, nobody should have to be out in the cold without a coat.

We are needing a light jacket in the morning already...imagine not being able to afford a coat when the temperatures really drop. Sad to think about. This is such a wonderful way to help out others currently in need.

Debb Janes EcoBroker and Bernie Stea JD hi Debb... no cold enough in Charlotte for jackets, as yet... still in the 80's. Mornings are coolish, but we are talking high 60's/low 70's.

Nina,

What a worthy cause to endorse.  Even in CA we have coat drives because it does get moderately cold.  When we lived in Napa we would often have frost in the winter!  A

Roy Kelley hi Roy... it's so easy to buy a new coat and jacket and forget about older ones that just hang in a closet unused. Might as well give them to someone who can get use out of them.

Hi Nina:

Hoping this is a huge success, again. I'm sure coats are much needed.

We have these drives here as well...while 30s and 40s at night in the winter might not be as bad as in your area, there are many who are in need of coats...and clothing in general.

Jeff
