Am I Unusual?
(Yes, This Is Rhetorical)
Today, March 30, marks ten years since I joined ActiveRain. At least I think so. I have checked my join date in the past but I am a bit unsure how to search for that information again. I guess I could ask a question in the Q&A section. I digress. So, let's leave it at March 30, 2010.
This place definitely has its advantages and over this decade-long journey, I have see many.
This includes methods, systems and procedures of many sorts. One can add membership to that list too. Each has seen changes, alterations and adjustments along with introductions and departures.
Has it always been a bed of roses? Hell, no. There have been drawn curtains, barking dogs and messages notifying us of member overload which prohibited access to the site. Like so many others, my entry to this platform was not immediate with some lurking before "diving in". Nor has my experience been consistent.
There was a flurry of activity on my part attempting to meet that 500,000 point level and FREE membership. Many were a part of that effort and it was exciting. Very exciting. Lots of fun as well as learning. And the results were good. At least I thought so. Contacts received that may not have specifically mentioned ActiveRain by name but it wasn't difficult to trace the source. It seems so long ago on one hand but gone so quickly too. Search engine optimization was not even a part of my thinking let alone a goal so that hasn't been a focus for me. Market reports and real estate-related posts which were once so common for me have become less important.
That's true in real life and as well as a part of AR. I have said it before but it bears repeating: I somewhat naively joined ActiveRain to "help my business" but what I gained has meant so much more than that with a continuing education beyond the real estate world. It is truly unlike anything else with connections that go beyond the virtual variety.
Thanks, ActiveRain for the incredible journey. Am I unusual? Really, what's usual?
