Jasen & Sunday Mornings

By
Real Estate Broker/Owner with HomeRome Realty 410-530-2400 311291

Each Sunday morning at about 6:00 AM, there an email along with a Vlog that I have the privilege of listening to.

Jasen Edwards Thank you

Today's message Jasen Edwards related the tense few weeks leading up the election and  Real Estate.

Some of his points:

-We are drowning in information.

-We question the facts, but there is no shortage of opinions.

What to do?

-Rely on those with whom we have a relationship.

-Reach out; we need to hear a friendly voice.

Talk to your real estate professionals. Talk to those you trust and already have a relationship with.

Working with people who have difficulty reaching an agreement is not new to real estate. Think about buyers and sellers, listing agents, and buyer's agents who only want the best outcome. Mix all of the various personalities, and there can be some serious stress in the transaction.  The goal is trying to please everyone enough to get to the settlement table.

So how do you continue to thrive in a low-trust environment? How do you help your clients make good decisions when they can barely agree on "facts"?

Reach out to your friends, family, SOI; people really need to hear a friendly voice.

You might want to listen to Jasen's weekly message.

Who have you been listening to lately?

I think the ability to listen is important, as you need to understand the other person's viewpoint and what is important to them. Imagine negotiating with a terrorist or a hijacker where you cannot split the difference as Chris Voss outlines in his book with his experience as an FBI negotiator. Maybe we need him to advise our politicians on negotiating.

Good point. I love Chris's book!

ba`B Ratliff I do love your comment.

Listening is probably the most important and then having the knowledge and skills to navigate the solution without being pushy and a know it all.

Barbara Todaro Another wonderful comment...

'listen to positive forces within your SOI and then complement those results with your "seasoned instincts" ..... every situation is different and with the resolution of each one, you've become more seasoned in your approach and progress....

I think he is right when he says we are drowning in information.  But, more importantly, I think the challenge is that there is an over abundance of bad information mixed with the good.  The drowning comes from our thrashing around in the water trying to grab onto the good, while being hindered by the other!

Myrl Jeffcoat Good analogy. Start swimming. Stop thrashing and you will get to your destination!
