Today was 11/11/2020 a more unconventional Veterans Day...

Thanks to many events that are going on in our country I found today as a more unconventional Veterans Day.

www.endrebarath.com

Many people have called, text-ed me and emailed me just to wish me a Happy Veteran's Day and thanked me for my  service to this great country. Thank you for the calls and emails as well as text. Since you know who you are I will not embarrass you by naming you all, instead consider this as my heart felt thank you.

Let me be clear, no thank yous were needed. I came to this great country in 1967 and was my duty to serve in the military. I would have felt like a "free loader", if I did not serve especially when I could give something back for accepting this legal immigrant from Communist Hungary.

Turned out  I had a wonderful time at the Unite States Military Academy as a Cadet, and I had an even better time being stationed in Ft Benning, GA. going through Infantry Officer Basic School, Airborne School and Ranger School. By my volunteering I got so much more in return received the best Leadership School anyone could dream about, I learned discipline and at the same time learned how to overcome adversity. Now the times we are living in I appreciate it even more.

So with that said having served in Germany for four plus years I got to travel all over Europe and had a great time learning about different cultures, different food and various wonderful wines. If it was not for my time in the military  I probably would not be where I am today.

I see a great deal of "lip service thanking veterans" as a Beverly Hills Realtor all I can say is actions speak louder than words so with that said:

We should thank all our military men and women for their courage and service, by helping them find a home when they are finished serving this great country.

As Realtors we should really go out of our way to help them find a home, it does not have to be a forever home maybe an entry level home. Now that is my wish instead of giving the phony " thank you for your service" message. Let's go out of our way to really help them.

Now with that said I hope you had a Happy Veteran's Day, I was working all day  as a Realtor in Los Angeles.

Endre Barath, Jr. - The photos of you in uniform may be old but I still recognize you. I'm guessing that first photograph of you in uniform is you and your father? You two sure look alike! If true, which I would bet is true, I have to say, I'm always intrigued by guys who grow taller than their father. As for  your smile, it's infectious! I can sense your pride in serving your new country. Thank you for not shying away from such an enormous responsibility.

As far as home ownership goes, it's such an honor for a Veteran to own a home. That was my husband's first line of duty after coming home from Vietnam and marrying me. I'm glad to read it meant a lot to you too. Today, it's always an honor for a REALTOR to represent a Veteran.

The RIGHT CHARLOTTE REALTOR!

Loved seeing your younger photos and reading your story, Endre. We are so appreciative of those who serve - we can never thank you all enough!

I just sold the home of a Purple Heart veteran (crazy but, sold him this home a couple of years ago and wrote about him in my 'diary' post on Memorial Day of that year). When they bought, we were in a multiple Offers situation and I had a heart-to-heart with the listing agent, with whom I had a great working relationship, explaining that he KNOWS I would get my vet to the Closing table. He encouraged his sellers and lo & behold, my clients won it.

Fast-forward about 3 years later, they also received multiple Offers on the house. They paid it forward, selling their home to another vet. Even though their buyer did offer over list price, they were NOT the highest bidder! Let me tell you, that was one of the best transactions I've ever had - such respect from both sides.

While we do not have a lot of military in our area, I always cherish the opportunity to serve them when we do.

Again, thank you for your service - you are truly appreciated.

Yes, it really helps when you have an agent who is an advocate for veterans - or a veteran himself!

I love those photos of you taken back in the day, Endre!  For a number of years I worked at a software development company with folks all over the globe.  A few of our employees had come from war torn countries like Bosnia, Sierra Leone, etc.  I think those of us who were born and raised in the U.S., often take what this country offers for granted!

I want to thank you for your service!
