Wreaths Across America 2020: Be An American Worth Fighting For

Wreaths Across America Needs Your Support To Honor America's Fallen Heroes This Christmas Season

Wreaths Across America, along with the Salvation Army's Angel Tree Program, are my two personal, favorite Christmas events to support. This year, Wreaths Across America was initially cancelled by Arlington National Cemetery, a decision reversed by President Trump and the Secretary of the Army, Ryan McCarthy. I couldn't be more delighted.

December 19th is Wreaths Across America Day... you can help ensure that a Christmas remembrance wreath is placed at each fallen veteran's gravesite on December 19th at Arlington National Cemetery and at over 2,000 military gravesites around the country, at sea and abroad. You can help by sponsoring a veteran's wreath at a cemetery near you, by volunteering or by donating to a local fundraising group. Each year, the Wreaths Across America organization lays millions of wreaths at military gravesites.

Please consider making a donation to Wreaths Across America to honor those who paid the ultimate price throughout our history for the freedoms we enjoy to this day. The 2020 theme for Wreaths Across America is: "Be An American Worth Fighting For." Please think about playing your part and support this cause by volunteering and or donating.

Video: What Is Wreaths Across America

If you haven't heard about this wonderful organization, which began 28 years ago with a trailer-load of wreaths, decorated by volunteers and laid at the graves of fallen soldiers at Arlington National Cemetery. In 2019, nearly 2.2 million veteran wreaths were placed on headstones at 2,158 participating cemeteries around the country in honor of the service and sacrifices made for our freedoms, with each name said out loud. In 2019, at Arlington National Cemetery alone and in spite of rain and cold, more than 38,000 volunteers placed 254,000 wreaths.

The mission of Wreath Across America is to:

REMEMBER the fallen;
HONOR those who serve;
TEACH our children the value of freedom.

Please help by sponsoring a wreath. It's only $15 to honor a fallen hero. Click on the picture below to send your contribution to sponsor a wreath. You can sponsor a wreath for Arlington Cemetary or for a local cemetary.

Lawrence "Larry" & Sheila Agranoff. Cell: 631-805-4400 hi Sheila... fortunately the cancellation lasted for only one day! I know some cemeteries will hold the opening ceremonies virtually.

Joan Cox hi Joan... I think this is so important an event that I post about it each and every year. There were 400,000 more wreaths contributed in 2019 than in 2018 and I hope the same happens in 2020.

I understand why this is so dear to your heart, it makes sense to place a Christmas wreath.  I was glad to hear that the president reversed the decision of Arlington,  Wishing you a lovely Sunday. A

 Hi Nina - Wreaths Across America is a wonderful program.  As is the Salvation Army. I heard that their donations are down about 50% due to stores low traffic and yet the needs this year are so much higher than before.

Good morning Nina Hollander ,

Every grave of every fallen soldier across America deserves a wreath to honor them. Wreaths Across America is such a worthy program and I'm glad to see the President and Army Secretary reversed Arlington's decision to cancel this event this year.

Anna Banana Kruchten CRS CRB, Phoenix Broker hi Anna... that's always what's so "unfair" in times like this... just as needs increase, there are fewer donations and traffic. Hopefully, in the end, people will "wake up" and be generous.

Chris Ann Cleland hi Chris Ann... it seems to be one of those events that people who know about it do and support it and then there are so many people who don't have a clue about it.
