Buckley Air Force Base is located in Aurora CO, and nearby, there are a few defense contractors. Many active military and accept positions at these contractors after their days with the military. I have seen many of my clients go from active military to civilians at these companies and do quite well. Both of these locations are within a couple of miles of the base.
Northrup Grumman has more than 550 facilities all over the United States and in more than 25 countries around the world, and employees approximately 90,000 employees. they built a new building in 2006 and now have four buildings in Aurora.
Raytheon is another defense contractor with a huge location within a mile of Buckley Air Force Base. The giant Waltham, Massachusetts-based defense contractor hired 200 positions in 2020 at the Aurora location, where Raytheon already employs 2,500 people. Aurora is also where Raytheon has worked on the ground segments for major federal government weather satellite systems and for classified U.S. military and intelligence satellite systems it can’t discuss publicly.
