Some of Austin's best parks. Come outside and check them out! - 04/28/09 11:22 PM

As As a 5th generation native Texan and over 20 year Austinite, I want to share some of my favorite Austin jewels. Our parks are one of our best assets. They are plentiful and loads of fun on a sunny day. Trust me we have plenty of sunny days in Texas! I have listed a few of my favorites, but I am sure to miss a few. When you visit Austin or if you live here please make sure to visit our parks and nature trails. If you bring your four legged companions, please remember to pick up after them. The … (3 comments)

Barton Springs Trees are in danger from the City of Austin - 04/28/09 11:03 PM
As a Austinite for well over 20 years, I have spent more than my fair share of time at Barton Springs and Town Lake (now known as Lake Ladybird). I am saddened and angered that the city of Austin has decided that 30 of the huge and stately trees around Barton Springs Pool and the Sunken Gardens need to be removed. Apparently the powers that be think the public is in danger of falling limbs. These trees have stood here for hundreds of years and most likely will outlive us all if given half the chance. If the city feels this way, … (1 comments)

Social Media is everywhere... - 04/28/09 09:08 PM
I just took a MCE course on Social Media and was very impressed with the instructor. He came all the way from Denver Colorado to teach this course at the Austin Board of Realtors. His name is Brad Hanks and he has been at this for a few years and has built a huge network of people. His course recommends you join all the social media groups that you can. Some of the groups he recommends are: Active Rain (OF COURSE!), Twitter, Linked In, MySpace, FaceBookand numerous others. If you Google Social Media I am sure you will find about 50 … (12 comments)

You always here about people suffering from Buyers Remorse, what about Seller's Remorse? - 04/01/09 05:49 PM
You often hear about people suffering from Buyers Remorse. Perhaps the home purchased was on a street that was too busy? or the house needed more repairs than initially thought? The school district was not all it was reported to be? The HOA is too restrictive? So I ask you does Sellers remorse exist? I think so and I am living proof of the fact.
About 15 years ago we bought a home in Barton Hills for $109K. It was a cute little house with 1500SF and a very large shady lot full of good trees. The plan was to live … (5 comments)

There is a huge flurry of construction happening in Drippin because its only about 20-30 minutes from Austin. The 290 & 71 Highways are  being expanded to allow for more development in Dripping and further out. Austin is the number two fastest growing city in the USA right now.

Shady Hollow roads and local MUD and annexation news - 04/01/09 04:13 PM
Recently I had a visit with John Roop the Shady Hollow Home Owners Association Manager. I went for a quick visit as I had questions about the new water main covers installed on my street. I noticed the shiny covers had "City of Austin" stamped on them. I am a mile and a half south of the Austin City Limits, so I was concerned. The old cover was just a plain slab of metal. So I got nervous that maybe Austin was taking over the Shady Hollow M.U.D. in preparation to annex Shady Hollow.
I have lived through my town being annexed and fighting … (2 comments)
