Sarasota, FL - If you live outside the U.S., but you're thinking of buying a home in southwest Florida, you're part of a growing number of prospective buyers from around the globe. Sales of U.S. real estate to international buyers totaled $82.5 billion in the year ending March 2012 (a very impressive gain over the $66.4 million in the same period the previous year), and Florida alone claimed a whopping 26% of these real estate sales. Sarasota's existing and pending home sales continued rising in February: stabilizing prices; reducing housing inventory; and spreading optimism about the Spring season of Sarasota real estate. As single-family home sales rose 13% over the previous month, pending sales hit an 11-month high, and median home sales price rose as well. Statewide, single-family home sales rose 18%, and the median sale price rose 7% over the preivous year, according to Florida Realtors.
