Woodlawn Middle School in Long Grove takes first place in the Patriot Middle school Conference VolleyBall Tournament The eighth graders at Woodlawn Middle School in Long Grove just snatched the First Place trophy for the Patriot Middle School Conference VolleyBall tournament today. ThePatriot Middle school Conference Volleyball tournament was held at Woodlawn Middle School both yesterday May 17th and today, May 18th. The schools that participated in the Patriot tournament included Fremont Junior High, West Oak Junior High, Aptakisic Junior High, Twin Groves Middle School, Woodlawn Middle school and Daniel Wright Junior High. All of these Schools are feeder schools of Stevenson High School.

Woodlawn Middle School in Long Grove Illinois recently was awarded the Blue Ribbon award for academic excellence. Only 35 Middle Schools in the United States received the award this year, so it is a unbelievable accomplishment. Yesterday, the Woodlawn teachers, staff, and students were presented the Blue Ribbon award by Julie Ewart, the Senior Public Affairs Specialisst from the United States Department of Education. The celebration was amazing from start to finish. On September 15, 2009, Woodlawn Middle School in Long Grove, Illinois was announced as one of the 2009 National Blue Ribbon Schools. My twin eighth graders attend Woodlawn Middle School and I can't say enough good things about it. They don't miss a beat!

Anything scheduled on your calendar at 4:00 in the afternoon this upcoming week? Nothing planned? How about attending an intense junior high school volley ball game, or a heated track meet. Last week, I attended both of these athletic events hosted by Aptakisic Junior High School in Buffalo Grove against one of their rivals Woodlawn Junior High of Long Grove. Both of these Junior High Schools feed into Adlai Stevenson Highschool in Lincolnshire. All the athletes during the sporting events I attended took their responsibilities extremely seriously and it was refreshing to see so many young people with such determination.
