I find standing water on flat roofs all the time, but this roof was a bit in the extreme.
Did you know that the term “flat roof” is not entirely accurate?  A roof is considered flat if it has a minimum slope of 1”/48.”  In other words truly flat is not allowed---it has to slope to properly drain water.
This roof was holding between 1” and 2” of water pretty much everywhere—roughly 2200 square feet.  Even with just 1” of water this would amount to about 11,500 lbs.  Then of course we must add the weight of the several pieces of … (15 comments)

My last post was about excessive moisture in an attic due to breaches in the air barrier between the indoors and the attic space.
As that post discussed, these by-passes can be obvious or hidden.  There are often multiple breaches in the same home and some may be easy to find and other may be very difficult to fine.  When I find these breaches I point them out and recommend that proper repairs be made.  These breaches, if not a problem now, may become a problem in the future.
