hawaii pictures: Hawaiian Sunset on a Friday Evening - 11/18/11 05:16 PM
I was in awe! I ran to grab my camera!  I could not ask for a better way to end my day.. than with a spectacular sun setting in the distance….and capturing this moment to share with all of you.
These are the moments when I stop…take a breath …and realize that I just took a moment to be grateful for the little things.
Have a wonderful weekend ActiveRainers!

hawaii pictures: Eh! Whatchu Lookin' At? - 04/17/11 05:53 PM

We went out to Ko'olina today to take some pictures and to just enjoy a lazy afternoon after a giant lunch.  I was taking a picture of Flat Stanley (who came from Pennsylvania) and in my eyesight was......this beautiful bird. I stayed so still and just watched it slowly turn around and look at me. He stood still just watching me. I felt privileged to take his picture and how beautiful it turned out!

hawaii pictures: Fun With Photo Filters - 03/18/11 11:35 AM
I'm a fan of Microsoft Digital Image for creating collages, touching up sharpness in photos and so forth. I am not a professional photographer but I love to accompany my blog posts with nice pictures.  I mean, if I am going to write a post, I am going to accompany it with my OWN pictures.
Original Photo of my First Azalea Bloom

I have fun with the filters in this program .....and the following filtered photos are what came out of experimenting with that original photo of my first Azalea bloom.

hawaii pictures: Clouds With Purpose - 02/27/11 02:58 PM

When I was a child I would grasp the opportunity to lay in the grass and look up at the sky. I would try to picture what each cloud formation looked like. I remember Casper flying in the big space above me and a herd of horses stampeding across the sky. Oh, animals and such.
I carried this ritual on into my adult life...it just seemed the right thing to do. It's relaxing and somehow just feels like there is just some purpose. A reason to place the clouds high above me as a natural wonder to keep in my memory bank...if … (13 comments)

hawaii pictures: Haiku Stairs aka “Stairway to Heaven” | Pu’u Keahiakahoe - 02/21/11 04:05 PM
With 3922 steps going to the crest of the Koolau Mountains the Stairway to Heaven has long since been a favorite in the past for hikers though now it is closed to the public. Why the past?  Obviously, it is dangerous with some parts of the climb at a 90 degree angle.
This particular mountain peak is known as Puu Keahiakahoe and the stairs were built out of wood during World War II in 1942 for the U.S. Navy's Haiku Radio Station and the VFL antenna.  The first structure that was erected on top of the mountain housed the cable and … (13 comments)

hawaii pictures: A Courtyard on Schofield Barracks - 01/26/11 04:39 PM

A gorgeous courtyard picture and amongst the beauty of a well manicured landscape I paused. You know, we can stop dead in our tracks when we view something that catches our eye and immediate thoughts begin to arise. A story to tell from a still picture captured with those first impressions that were implanted in our memory bank to store for later when viewing the picture shot at that moments notice.
I could see a garden tea party with women wearing long frilly dresses and bonnets with a parasol to protect them from the morning sun. A couple sitting on the bench beneath … (9 comments)

hawaii pictures: Oahu's Point Panic Beach Park Sunset - 01/02/11 04:28 PM

On our way home from dinner I saw the sun setting and I just had to redirect the driver to a perfect place to capture this sight....at Point Panic Beach Park.
I hopped out in the nick of time to snap this seconds from disappearing sun setting over the ocean.
Ah....sheer bliss for the sight of a sunset ...if not for a second or two.

hawaii pictures: Finding the Sunlight in Life - 12/27/10 03:08 AM

Do you believe in coincidences....
....or that everything happens for a reason?
When things looked dreary with all the heavy rain last week I saw the opportunity to change my thinking around.
I looked up at the pretty flowers on the tree and saw just a hint...a peek ...of sunlight coming through the trees.
When all may look bleak and dreary...look for that sunlight.

hawaii pictures: The GREATEST Gift of All | Kaneohe Bay and Mountain Views - 12/26/10 02:48 PM
While we were driving over to Kaneohe (on the northeast side of our island of Oahu) yesterday, I pondered on thoughts of where we were going, who we were spending Christmas with and what the real meaning of a holiday was.
I thought, It really isn't about the tangible stuff we call gifts. It's about the present. It's about the fact that I live and I will die but what's more important is what I do in between that matters. The now.
So, what was important yesterday?
The beauty that surrounds me every day that I sometimes do not appreciate caught … (10 comments)

hawaii pictures: If Not For a Moment - 04/14/10 09:25 AM

If not for a moment of wanderlust
To dream until that moment...
Without rhyme nor reason
A picture perfect memory
For those lost or scattered to sea
Commemorate the loved one most thought of
To remember thee.

It's just one of those days when I have a lot on my mind.  I have gazillion things to do and a list that keeps growing. I need to be in the mindset of this guy...... Monkey or not on his back and he's just ...RELAXED.

hawaii pictures: Blue Skies...Sunshine - 01/20/10 04:36 AM
A few minutes ago I was on Facebook and saw Matt Heaton's comment,  "Really nice to see some blue skies today". I looked outside and saw such beautiful blue sunny skies here as well.
Please stop to smell the flowers, the coffee and to peek at all that IS beautiful around us.
Here's sharing with all of you....from Oahu, Hawaii!

What a beautiful day!

hawaii pictures: A Picture Worth a Thousand Words - 01/08/10 03:39 AM
Okay, so I really don't have a thousand words but I have thoughts on 'a picture worth MANY words'. Have you ever thought about how you physically viewed objects prior to being in real estate?  Well, this is what I was pondering when I took this shot yesterday.
The architecture of this building is so unique but what caught my eye more was the way the staircase led up to the top. The sunlight came in through the windows...and odd sort of skylight that was magnificent to just view...for awhile.

I kept looking at this particular view and wondered if I would … (18 comments)

hawaii pictures: A Memorable Evening on the Star of Honolulu Dinner Cruise - 12/27/09 01:49 PM
We boarded the Star of Honolulu for the  Honolulu Sunset Dinner Cruise and we were on our way out into the open sea by 5:30pm yesterday evening. We started with a beautiful romaine salad and a tiny loaf of taro bread...and then out I went to the deck to snap some shots.

With a sun setting over open seas with a view ‘to die for' of Diamond Head and Waikiki and a lovely dinner with entertainment like hula, Tahitian and other dances with a wonderful dinner  it has surely been another memorable time for Gary and I.
We had gone on … (22 comments)

hawaii pictures: A Moment of Clarity - 12/26/09 08:02 AM
The day after Christmas and all is hustling and bustling in the shopping centers with the 'day after' returns and sales and the use of all those gift cards. I'm reflecting (before I hit the stores lol) on my day yesterday and how the beauty of the Ko'o'lau Mountains took my breath away...if only for a moment.

And a pull off to the side to see Kaneohe Bay, the harbor and the mountains on the other side of the bay....and even for a drizzle here and there.....the beauty of the bay was astounding.

Going back through the tunnels on … (18 comments)

hawaii pictures: Santa's on Vacation in Hawaii! - 12/19/09 04:00 PM
A Saturday morning at Mililani Town Shopping Center. It's crowded in the parking lot and we just needed to deposit a check at the bank. I boot my husband out of the car to do the deed and drove around the parking lot awaiting his return.
Not much usually happens around the parking lot but as soon as I saw that Santa was on vacation in Hawaii I immediately trailed him to get a shot to share with all of you.

I'm sure glad that Santa got a vacation before starting out on Christmas Eve to deliever all the presents!

hawaii pictures: Foto Fun Friday - 12/18/09 02:31 AM

Last Friday, the Honolulu Board of Realtors put on our December GMM (General Membership Meeting) at the Hilton Hawaiian Village Coral Ball Room. We were just arriving and I snapped this wonderful shot of the "HULA DANCERS". It's a bit blurry as we were driving and the driver (my BIC) was blazing over bumps.
More photos to come with the story of our GMM meeting and the awards ceremony!

hawaii pictures: The Swinging Bridge - 12/07/09 03:52 PM

When I was 11 years old I flew on a prop airplane to Kauai with my cousin to visit with my favorite Aunt Sally. She taught me how to crochet, sew, play the ukulele and clean house. On this first trip over there my cousin and I vowed we would find all sorts of mischief to get into.
We went crabbing with my Uncle Doug and we found a stray cat. We 'snuck' him in the back of the car and managed to muffle the cat's cries....for help wondering where we were taking her. We hid the cat under a wash … (17 comments)
