good words: Good Words for a Friday in the Rain (14) - 08/02/07 11:49 PM
This week I sought out the words of another to help put into context the fact that someone felt slighted by my actions... or rather the lack of.
I've come to know that we all are learning, and adapting and growing beings.
Sometimes it takes time for our actions to catch up to our learning.
And, unfortunately you can not go back and add new knowledge to past actions.
But oh how I wish we could.
Grow It Forward...

good words: Good Words for a Friday in the Rain (#13) - 06/29/07 02:08 AM
Politics and the 4th of July go hand and hand. So for this week's Good Words I wanted to pick words I believe are an American truth. Unfortuently at times, no matter how truthful words are, they just are not heard.
This is because regardless of who speaks the truth, we often will first filter it through the person that is sharing them. If we have not agreed with something else the person has said, then the truth is not heard. But the truth is the truth, no matter who speaks it. It can not be altered, it can not be spun, it can not disguised.
So if these words resonate in your … (19 comments)

good words: Good Words for a Friday in the Rain (12) - 06/22/07 01:32 AM
Lately I have been spending a few extra hours playing in the Rain.
I've come to learn that it doesn't take much to see which posts will make a "splash" and which will be just "drips" in this big puddle.
The key to all GOOD writing, whether it is a novel, screen play or even a blog, is originality.
So I encourage you to be original, have a whale of a good time, and...
Splash It Forward.

Buddha should have been a blogger on Active Rain. His "good words" from long ago are quite relivant to that which we write of and share in this community we call the "Rain".
Even publishing our words as "Members Only" does not release of of the responsibility of what we write and what we say.
It is fine to find and use words that convey passion, commitment, intelligence, authority, anger, sadness, dreams, doubts, upsets and ideas. But remember, the words we use and how we use them in what we write are mirrors reflecting back who we are, to those who read our words.
Reflect It Forward...

good words: Good Words for a Friday in the Rain (10) - 06/08/07 12:12 AM

I have been in the Rain long enough to see NEW voices rise up from nowhere and be heard.
When I read of the frustration others have when it comes to being "heard" in the Rain, I just want to encourage them all to... Work on your "voice"! With practice it will come and you will be heard.
So when I found this quote of Strauss, a man who WROTE music not words, I knew the were perfectly good words.
Practice It Forward...

Sharing a Helen Keller quote is a full circle moment in life.
I can remember, as a child of about 10 years old, first learning of her in school. Helen Keller became the first inspirational hero I would deeply connect with.
It has been many years since I read Helen's words... but WOW.
This woman saw so much of what is blind to many.
See It Forward...

good words: Good Words for a Friday in the Rain (8) - 05/25/07 01:56 AM
This past 2 weeks have been a fast ride of ups and downs.  And while the ups are fun... the downs can be paralyzing.
I have learned that at times when my life seems to bring more more than I wanted, needed or understand.
My first inclination is to resist, only to later find that which is so painful, was so necessary.
Ride It Forward..

good words: Good Words for a Friday in the Rain (7) - 05/17/07 11:01 PM
Recently, while on vacation, I read the ancient book of strategic wisdom called "The Art of War." If you have not read it, don't be deceived by the title.
These few Good Words, quoted here, reminds us that wrath can return no true joy. It is always superior to win over hearts with kindness and wisdom, than destroy.
Those you do battle with may be on your side. The wise person will illuminate that which makes you one.
Shine It Forward...

good words: Good Words for a Friday in the Rain (6) - 05/10/07 11:42 PM

In my readings of this week I came across these few simple words that touched me.
When I say "touched" I mean they stopped me for a moment and made me think. When this happens I knew these are the words that I should share here.
So... Happy Mother's Day to all Mothers here in the Rain... and to your Mothers who taught you to be.
Share it Forward...

good words: Good Words for a Friday in the Rain (5) - 05/04/07 12:43 AM

I have a selfish confession to make.
While I hope others enjoy and find insight in the "Good Words" series... know that they are not just great quotes.
Today's words, are those of a concentration camp survivor Viktor Frankl. These words, of a man that lived through the worst, inspires and reminds one to choose to grow in life and be the best one can be, regardless of circumstance.
So I confess... I share these words to remind me, and inspire me from where I am at, at this point on my own journey.
Powerful, simple, poignant.

good words: Good Words for a Friday in the Rain (4) - 04/27/07 02:06 AM

While away I have come to realize this...
Whether one creates art or enjoys another's, art can create a small oasis in daily desert of our lives.
One need not view nor create a grand masterpiece to be refreshed.
My advice, look for the small droplets of art that rain daily.

good words: Good Words for a Friday in the Rain (3) - 04/19/07 10:12 PM
There comes a time when the best we can do and the best we can be is "growing".
Sometimes, this "best way" is to travel to another place and to another way.
So off I go... for the first time in over 5 years. A new place and a new way.Bye for now...

good words: Good Words for a Friday in the Rain (2) - 04/13/07 12:46 AM
As we travel down our path in life, sometimes challenges and the chores distract and divert us from what we hold as true. Quite often, and for some odd coincidence, we then stumble upon a messages that can instantly redirect us back on what really is our track.
At least that is the way it is for me.
Tripping forward...

good words: Good Words for a Friday in the Rain (1) - 04/05/07 11:11 PM

Throughout the course of our lives we read and hear trillions upon trillions of words.
But once in a great while, we come across words that somehow travel deep within to touch the core of our being... and illuminate what we hold as our truths.
Yesterday, I came across these simple and profound words of Mahatma Gandhi.
Be It Forward...
