LOST ANOTHER ONE - 06/30/10 07:46 PM
Well it happened again; another out of state customer I have been working with has decided to hold off purchasing a home until they see what is going to happen along the Gulf Coast with the oil spill.  Working with out of area customers is tough enough without having the oil spill thrown into the mix.  I know I am not alone, I have heard other agents talk about customers taking a "wait and see" attitude.  Lets hope we don't have to wait too long, this could be a long summer.

NOW WE HAVE RUSSIAN SPIES - 06/29/10 09:37 AM
Now we have Russian spies!  I don't know why, when I heard the news last evening, this surprised me as much as it did.  Maybe it's because it brought back memories of a time I thought was gone. For me that time was the late Eisenhower administration, where we still had drills diving under our school desks with our hands over our head, to the Reagan administration and the fall of the Berlin Wall. Since then spies have faded into the recesses of my mind.  Finding eleven of them at one time was like 007 (love Sean Connary) roaring into town and waking me up.
What this brought into focus for me was that even countries we consider friendly … (7 comments)

A FLY ON THE WALL - 06/28/10 11:14 AM
OK, now we have the G-20 Summit
Obama came back with nothing.  While G-20 countries are curtailing their taxes and spending our President wants to wait until next year while increasing taxes and spending until that time.  Why isn't he listening to the voices of experience?  Europe has been there, done that, and now they are learning from their mistakes.  I would love to have been a fly on the wall at those back room meetings (we know they always have), especially the meeting with Chancellor Merkel from Germany.  She is working hard for the economic recovery of her country, and it's not being … (8 comments)

DON'T MAKE ME TRACK YOU DOWN! - 06/28/10 08:33 AM
Today is the beginning of a new week and I am hoping two of the agents I am working deals with decide to make my week easier than last week.  Last week I tried to reach these agents to update them on the status of the short sales offers we are working on (these are my listings).  We all know how long it takes  banks to get back to you on your inquiries but how fast they expect us to get the information back to them - but I degress here. I emailed both agents - faxed both agents - and left messages for both agents, … (8 comments)

NICE EVENING OUT - 06/26/10 09:29 PM
With the temperature and humidy rising people will be looking for some sort of entertainment under air conditioning. For those people looking for a nice evening out I suggest you check out The Broadway Palm Dinner Theater in Fort Myers, located at 1380 Colonial Blvd, just over the Veterans Bridge from Cape Coral. This is a relaxing evening out, where you can watch an off Broadway Show while having dinner. Matinee performances are also available. They do have a minimal dress code

OUR FREEDOMS AND RIGHTS - 06/26/10 12:29 PM
With all the talk about the Constitution, and whether it is being adhered to by this administration, I started considering how many of us really know what is in it.  I know we spout off about our freedoms, our right, and when we think they are being infringed upon, but do we really know what it says?  So in an effort to "practice what I preach" I decided to read it last evening.  To my surprise I found it much easier to read than I had imagined, it's not very long and lays out our governing laws quite simple.

THANK YOU FOR SAVING MY SANITY! - 06/24/10 08:05 PM
I want to take a minute to thank two AR Groups that have saved my sanity by allowing me to express my pent-up frustration concerning today's political environment. The Tea Party and Silent Majority Groups have allowed me to express this frustration and down right anger to like minded members with out the fear of causing discourse within the groups. Just being able to vent is such a relief!  As you will see I am quite opinionated, and I am always concerned I will insult someone.  What I really like is that there are different opinions but no one gets testy.
Basically I am not a big … (12 comments)

IS SHE KIDDING??? - 06/24/10 07:19 PM
I can't believe what I heard the Labor Department Secretary say.  I was just watching the news and almost jumped out of my seat when I hear her talk about equality in pay for people in this country.  OK, everyone should be fairly paid for the job they do, that's good, I get it.  No one should be unfairly taken advantage of by not being paid a fair wage, OK I said I got it.  Then she said this also included undocumented workers, and please notify her if it is taking place "all names will be kept confidential".  IS SHE KIDDING??

HERE IS THE OATH? - 06/23/10 09:51 AM
I think we all agree the comments should never have been made by McCrystal and his staff.  Since there is so much talk about the sworn oath McCrystal took, I wanted to know what the oath states.  Does he take an oath to defend the Constitution and obey his Commander and Chief under all circumstances. Because I wanted to know before making any future opinions I looked it up.
Officers take a slightly different oath than enlisted men; the oath for officers does not include "obey orders".

NO REFRESHING SWIM HERE - 06/23/10 07:38 AM
Has anyone been swimming in the Gulf lately?  I recently went to a birthday party that was held on the beach in Fort Myers Beach.  With the weather being hot and humid a dip in the Gulf was something I really looked forward to.  As the perspiration glistened my untanned body I walked into the water to cool down, and immediately jumped out.  Hot - Hot - Hot!!  I don't mean tepid, I mean Hot.  I have never seen the water this warm before.  There would be no building sand castles and getting covered in sand then running into the water to get the sand off, … (0 comments)

CAUTIOUS OPTIMISM - 06/22/10 06:23 PM
I just listened to the CEO of Century 21, Rick Davidson, give his cautious optimistic explanation of why this is the Right Time To Buy.  These are the high points that caught my attention.
Yes, the housing market had a 2.2% decrease in May but it is not a reason to panic, it's the annual numbers that are important, not month to month percentages.
Housing sales are up 18% over last year at this time with home prices showing a 4% increase.  Homes are more affordable today over last year.  80% of the public still think this is still a good time to buy a home even … (2 comments)

I HAVE A FEEING IN MY GUT - 06/20/10 08:56 AM
There is a lot of bashing on BP which is deserved; what I want to know is why we are not hearing anything about the Regulatory Oversight which is mandatory for oil companies.  Why is no one asking when inspections were done, what was not in compliance, and what actions were required if noncompliance of standards was found. Everyone is focused on BP and not beyond; why not?  Could it be moneychanged hands for inspectors to look the other way.  Would and investigation cause an embarrassment to the administration? I have this feeling in my gut that we are being deflected from an even bigger situation.
I may be … (6 comments)

FAST MOVING - 06/10/10 07:26 PM
This has been a fast moving week, and here is why.
Last Friday a woman called me wanting an aggressive agent; she had stopped working with another agent who was not able to "get the job done" (her words).  After qualifying her needs and time frame I ruled out Short Sales and went for Foreclosures and Traditional sales.  She put an offer on a house which went to Highest and Best.  When she did Not following my recommendation and lost the bid she wanted another turn at the offer (the concept of Highest and Best alluded her).  The next day she got it right and got a house, … (2 comments)
