bluebonnets: Bluebonnets & Indian Paintbrushes ~ Then comes the Texas heat! - 08/07/17 10:33 AM
Thank you Belinda Spillman for hosting the challenge Show Us Your Summer Blooms and Crops...
It’s fun seeing all the green thumbs that have posted their gorgeous flowers and gardens in this contest. Growing up we maintained a very large garden in upstate New York and I can’t tell you how many hours I spent shelling peas, picking corn, lettuce, beans, asparagus, carrots, tomatoes, cucumbers, water melon....you name it!
I loved the little purple violets, tulips, crocus, daffodils, iris, daises and forsythia bushes that popped out at the first sign of spring. Closely followed we enjoyed the gorgeous peony bushes, tiger lilies, lilac … (23 comments)

You might be from Texas “IF” you know:

Sixty delegates from all over Texas signed the declaration commemorating Texas independence from Mexico! The language used to draw up the declaration followed the 1776 Declaration of Independence of the United States which is observed on July 4th and referred to … (24 comments)

bluebonnets: A Sea of Blue Bonnets - 04/16/10 10:17 AM

We know spring has come to Texas because our blue bonnets are painting the medians and sides of our highways with thick strokes.
These bluebonnets have a wonderful view of Lake Travis and the Texas Hill Country!

Throw in splashes of vibrant Indian Paint Brushes and our pictures are complete!
On weekends families will flock to hillsides to take pictures of their kids nestled in the deep colorful blankets!

Ahhh our state flower is in full bloom!
