According to the 2012 census, median income in Auburn is just under $50k. And yet, quick research on our MLS illustrates the current median sold price for Auburn homes thus far in 2014 is $276,755!! (good grief!)

I was directed to a Web site this morning called Foreclosure Radar. Like most sites of this sort, its aim is to get real estate agents to subscribe to their service (for a fee) with referrals to be directed from the site back to the fee-paying agents. I typically avoid these sorts of things as fee-paid referrals up front can be a huge out-of-pocket expense with little or no return.

But when helping a seller understand what they need to do to sell their house ... or why they'll likely get the price under discussion, or why a buyer could/should pay a particular price for a home, they're invaluable.

Yes, homes and other properties DID sell in Auburn in 2009. From an agent's standpoint, the business of real estate felt slower until Fall, then things started jumping like mad! I know from my own business that every single sale was a lot of work -- always gratifying, but whew! The start of real estate in 2010 is moving right along!

Farmers markets are the best place to stock up on fresh fruits, veggies, flowers ... and kettle corn! That's definitely the case at the Auburn International Farmers Market, held every Sunday from June 14th into September or so.
In addition to the food goodies, there's typically a guest chef cooking up farm fresh goodies, along with kids activities such as face painting and the Auburn Library storytelling time.
