While walking my dog, Diesel, this morning I noticed a couple of town houses on the Rockledge Country Club that had new real estate signs out front.
They have been for sale for a long time! Not sure exactly the months (years?) but a long time!
I wondered... where is the issue? Why have these not sold yet? After all, they are in a reasonably nice location. I wondered if the real estate agent(s) had marketed over the Internet. I hear that is very effective! I wondered if the agent(s) ever conducted an open house? They sometimes work although rarely. I … (3 comments)

I posted a recent article on the Viera housing market. Actually a summary of sales from June 15 through July 15, 2007. Well, today's Florida Today newspaper carried another front page article regarding the market. Another gloom and doom article? Not really, just mostly facts. Although you would not know it from the headline there were tidbits of some positive news buried underneath the headline. Of course there are many who get the news from the headlines only!

I was born and raised in Florida. A Florida native, once thought to be a dying breed! Not really, however when I was growing up there was not as much in-migration as there is today. Moving to Brevard County, Florida brings all sorts of new experiences. When visitors and new residents think of Florida's Space Coast they often first think of the Kennedy Space Center or Cocoa Beach. Was it not Cocoa Beach that was made famous in the 1960s television series, I Dream of Jeanie?

Florida's Space Coast remains the place for buyers to find a deal!I ran the numbers today - that is the number of real estate closings from Jan 1, 2007 through April 24, 2007 (today) compared to the same period last year. It seems for Central Brevard County (Suntree, Viera and Rockledge) the number of closed sales is about the same as last year. That is not a surprise to me. However, the average sales price is less. No more than 15 years ago (Imoved here in 1996) all that is Viera was a ranch, pastures with scrub oaks, and various agricultural interests. Viera, Florida (although unincorporated part of Brevard County most think of it as a custom built town) is a fast-growing, master planned community in Brevard County, Florida, located in the Space Coast region. With a 2006 population of 25,225 residents as of April 1, 2006 Rockledge is small, quite and peaceful yet close enough to the active nightlife and attractions of Orlando (45 minutes) and the Atlantic Coast Beaches (10 minutes).
I moved to this area a little over 10 years ago and I love it! But, then, what is there to not love?
