politics: John McCain's faustian deal is not good for America. - 09/19/08 02:11 AM
John McCain has had a long time to serve his country. He started out serving it in the military like his Father and Grandfather. A noble pursuit indeed. Then he became a prisoner of war as we all know. Something happened to John McCain after that. Whatever it was I don't know but he he seems to have lost his moral compass.
Upon release from his captors he came home to find his loving wife who waited for him disabled. He then took up with Cindy Hensley and according to his 2002 memoir "Worth the Fighting For," McCain wrote that he … (0 comments)

politics: September 11th, Seven years have passed and we still grieve for those lost, we still seek the villian who ordered the attack. - 09/11/08 05:02 AM
We wake up every day in a new world, one where we have lost some of our liberties along with some of our naivete.
We are spending $12 billion dollars a month on a war that has lasted too long already and has cost far too much in human terms. Well over 4,000 of our best men and women lost. Many thousands more injured. Are we even looking for Osama Bin Laden? Are we even fighting in the right country? Have we lost our chance at justice?
We are fortunate that we live in the "last best place on earth". We … (2 comments)

politics: It's amazing how smart children are at reading people isn't it? - 09/04/08 01:18 AM
I believe that children have the inherent ability to make sound character judgements. They also don't care if they are politically correct. I find it very telling that childhood nicknames for the Republican ticket were McNasty and Barracuda.   I also think that these two have will divide this country even further than the "Great Uniter" George Bush has managed to do. There has been a long line of Republican attack dogs picked for the VP spot, going all the weay back to "Tricky Dick" Nixon as Ike's running mate. (Another nice nickname by the way) Then we had Spiro Agnew and … (51 comments)

politics: So now we are down to attacking Half Brothers? - 08/25/08 05:22 AM
It absolutely amazes me the hipocracy that certain bloggers have going on. Who cares if a candidate has a sibbling that they don't know about or have heard rumors of etc. There are far too many examples of bad sibblings related to current and past presidents. Grow-up!
George W. Bush's younger brother Neil certainly hasn't done much to make his brother's rocky political life any easier. Neil's been making the wrong kind of news since as far back as the 1980s, when as the son of Vice President George H.W. Bush he served as a director of Silverado Savings and Loan, … (1 comments)

politics: Did John McCain lie about Pork? - 08/18/08 06:30 AM
Well obviously he did! When old John said that "I'm proud to tell you, in 24 years as a member of Congress, I have never asked for nor received a single earmark or pork barrel project for my state and I guarantee you I'll veto those bills. I'll ask for the line item veto and I'll veto them and I'll make the authors of them famous."
Really now John, In 2006, the senator teamed up with fellow Arizona senator Jon Kyl (R) to funnel $10 million toward the University of Arizona for an academic center named after the late Supreme Court … (7 comments)

politics: A Random sample of John McCain Quotes, if you weren't scared before you should be now. - 08/14/08 07:40 AM
"I am a illiterate that has to rely on my wife for all of the assistance I can get."
"The issue of economics is not something I've understood as well as I should. I've got Greenspan's book.""It's not social issues I care about.""F**k you! I know more about this than anyone else in the room." --to Sen. John Cornyn (R-TX), during a testy exchange about immigration legislation
You know that old Beach Boys song, Bomb Iran? Bomb bomb bomb, bomb bomb Iran."
"I think I'd just commit suicide." --in October 2006, on the prospects of the Democrats taking back the Senate … (14 comments)

politics: Did John McCain subscribe to the George Costanza principle? - 08/14/08 04:37 AM
You know the one from episode #86 from season five. In this episode, George realizes that in his whole life, nothing he has ever done has ever worked out for him. So, in a stunning display of daring and boldness, he decides to do the opposite of everything his instincts tell him to do. And an incredible series of successes follows: he meets a beautiful woman, he lands a job with the Yankees, and he gets a great apartment.
It seems that things weren't working out for John so he decided to break his pledge of a clean campaign
To: Campaign … (6 comments)

politics: So do you think Jimmy Carter had a point? Thitry years ago he was prescient - 08/11/08 03:43 AM
enough to understand the predicament that we face today. For those to young to remember you should read his proposed energy policy speech from April 1977 here http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/amex/carter/filmmore/ps_energy.html
Funny how he was ridiculed by most back then but now McCain and Obama are espousing on his plan. Maybe someday we will elect someone with the abilities to do the right thing and not care what the public opinion polls say.
We have a window of opportunity to fundamentally change the energy dependence we have on foriegn oil. We must act now and not be fooled into waiting another 30 years.

politics: John McCain is not a national hero or even close. He is another in a long line of - 08/06/08 01:33 AM
politicians with flaws. Don't believe me or take my word for it. Read on about some of the facts of his life an decide for yourselves instead of being led on by the spin meisters.
Fact John McCain
grew up Episcopalian. He went to an Episcopalian high school. For at least 15 years, he has been listed as an Episcopalian in authoritative directories such as the Almanac of American Politics and Congressional Quarterly's Politics in America 2008. He told a reporter from McClatchy News Service in June 2007 that he was an Episcopalian.
Suddenly, in September 2007, he's campaigning in South … (20 comments)

politics: President Reiterates Goal on Homeownership June 18,2002 - 08/05/08 03:32 AM
It seems that a lot of people have discussed who is at fault for this credit cruch that we are in. Some think it's the mortgage brokers, some think it's the realtors, some think it's a combo. Well take a look at this little piece of history. The entire press release can be found here. http://activerain.com/action/blogs_admin/write
But I believe owning something is a part of the American Dream, as well. I believe when somebody owns their own home, they're realizing the American Dream. They can say it's my home, it's nobody else's home. (Applause.) And we saw that yesterday in Atlanta, … (0 comments)

politics: Some findings on the state of our Healthcare system. - 07/30/08 04:27 AM
There is mounting evidence that we are in need of a complete overhaul of our healthcare system. The Commonwealth Fund has concluded that "despite spending more (money) on health care than any other industrialized nation, the US overall continues to fall far short on key indicators of health outcomes and quality."
Even with our extensive spending we as a nation are "last among 19 industrialized nations when it comes to premature deaths that could potentially have been prevented by timely access to effective healthcare."
The fact that the Commonwealth Fund has a distinguished World wide reputation should not go unnoticed. The … (2 comments)

politics: Ted Stevens indicted on seven counts! It's a start! - 07/29/08 05:11 AM
Some of you thought that Nancy Pelosi was a problem, well what do you think of this fine example of a politician?            Ted Stevens, the longest-serving Republican in the U.S. Senate and one of the chamber's most powerful members has been indicted today. Another banner moment for the taxpayor. Maybe now some of the yahoos out there will get that this administration has been stealing us blind.
Oh some of you will ignore the evidence as you always do, and make excuses for these people or even better you make something up lke the swift boat incident or Willie Horton. … (6 comments)

politics: First it was mortages, then car loans/leases, now it is student loans. - 07/29/08 01:45 AM
Where and when is this credit crunch going to stop. I don't know the answer do you? I think it will stop with a new administration. One that will not run the federal deficit to $490 billion dollars or 20% higher than our commander in chief said it would be just this past February. I know that he was a horrible student but doesn't he realize that he can not keep spending more of our money than we have? If he does and he is doing it on purpose than he should be impeached and criminally indicted.
We had three straight … (0 comments)

politics: Another Celebrity foreclosure example - 07/25/08 01:59 AM
Scott Storch is losing his $10 million dollar home in Miami Beach Fl. Just last year this 34 year old was worth an estimated 70 million. Maybe his friends Christina Aguilera and Beyonce can help him out. After all he was their producer.
Should I feel bad for him? Well I wouldn't wish it on anyone but I can't say I feel bad for him. Not when so many people are facing the same situation and they have no way out at the moment. At least Scott got to have some fun with his Ferrari Scaglietti and his Bones Bike before … (6 comments)

politics: A few things I would do if I were elected President Part 1 - 07/24/08 02:25 AM
Number 1,  There were 356,000 acres of tobacco planted in this country in 2007. Simply put I would outlaw the farming of tobacco on U.S. Soil. In it's place according to the dept of agriculture if we planted the same acreage with corn we could expect 152.8 bushels per acre yield which at $3.40 in 2007 prices would be 54,396,800 bushels equaling $184,848,120 worth of corn. Put another way , the average person consumes 1500 pounds of corn product per year. One bushel weighs 56 pounds This would mean that over 2,030,000 people more could be fed in the world. Perhaps … (14 comments)

politics: New Yorker Magazine cover has gone to far! - 07/15/08 03:30 AM
Has anyone seen the cover of the New Yorker Magazine? I really think that when the (press) starts going after family members as easy targets we need to let them know that this is unacceptable behavior by not buying their product.

What do you think?
