Riot Police Attack Protestors in Oakland - 10/27/11 08:29 PM
Watching these demonstrations turn into violence in Oakland really concerns me. Several of us talked about this a week or so ago when we speculated that George Soros might be behind the Occupy Wall Street protests.
I'm deeply troubled by the turn of events in Oakland.  An Ex-Marine Scott Olsen, who served two tours of duty in Iraq was blasted in the face by a tear gas canister launched by police at the protestors.foreign Our country was born out of protests.  Our Founding Fathers were themselves protestors.
It is as American as apple pie to gather and protest.

A Word About The Upcoming 2012 Election From - JFK - 10/09/11 10:46 PM
Sometimes I'm in awe or utterly amazed when I read quotes from our forefathers or historical figures I admire.
I've always been a big fan of John F Kennedy.  Tonight I was scrolling through some of his quotes.  I found he had a typical dry New England sense of humor.  "Do you realize the responsibility I carry? I'm the only person standing between Richard Nixon and the White House."John F. Kennedy
JFK believed in in our freedoms and our liberty.  He was not boastful about our resolve, but stated it fairly simply. "Let every nation know, whether it wishes us … (15 comments)

The aftermath of the real estate bubble should make us all aware of what home ownership really means.  It's a basic human need, not your retirement nest egg.

Attach To Things That Are Worth It !! - 10/09/11 06:42 PM
Some attachments make lifelong memories.  Investing some of you and your time can make a huge difference.
We always encourage giving pets a second chance at the life they deserve.  If you don't have time to spend rescuing a pet, please make a donation at your local animal shelter.  Preferably a no kill shelter.

Why do we celebrate Columbus getting lost? - 10/09/11 06:15 PM
We all know that in 1492 Columbus discovered America.  But where the heck was he really going?  The East Indies.
We are reminded that Monday is a Holiday to celebrate Columbus and his discovery.  Anyone even remember his first name?  Christopher.
In New York we find a monument dedicated to the famed explorer in Columbus circle.  Try and get around that at rush hour.  No wonder the guy got lost.

You Heard Of Men In Tights? How About Men In Wigs? - 10/09/11 04:52 PM
After reading these old guys in wigs, one must ask if they possessed a crystal ball?
"I Can See Clearly Now" must have been a pop standard in the 1700's

"We must not let our rulers load us with perpetual debt. We must make our selection between economy and liberty or profusion and servitude.
If we run into such debts as that we must be taxed in our meat in our drink, in our necessities and comforts, in our labors and in our amusements, for our callings and our creeds...our people.. must come to labor sixteen hours in the … (6 comments)

Scranton Pa Real Estate Drops 11% In August - 10/09/11 04:04 PM
According to a recent article in the Scranton Times, home values have dropped in the Scranton Wilkes-Barre real estate market.
Home prices have shown a decline in recent years in the Scranton real estate market.  Price drops were not as fast or significant as markets in Las Vegas, Florida, Arizona and some parts of California.

Those areas were hit hard and fast early on as a result of the real estate bubble.
CoreLogic a real estate data aggregation firm reported that in the month of August home values fell in the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre/Hazelton metro area by 11%.  The report … (4 comments)

Why FSBO's will always need a Realtor - 10/05/11 07:43 PM
Many home owners feel they can save the real estate commission and sell their own home.
When I was first licensed in 1985 we had a one page sales contract.  Legalities and the protections of participants rights have expanded that document to 20 pages, plus numerous disclosures and legal notices which have to be signed by both parties.
The purpose of these voluminous documents is not to make the transaction more complicated, but to bind legally both parties to their respective responsibilities and duties, at the same time protecting the interests of each party.
If a home owner feels they have … (8 comments)

Sorry if I offend you..but your house stinks. - 10/02/11 09:24 AM
When you get ready to spruce up your home and stage it for selling....don't forget the smell test.  Some times lingering cooking odors will be present the next day.  Be sure to have a system in place to remove odor from your home.
Even if you don't think your home has odors - do it any way.  Plug in room deodorizers are very inexpensive and do a good job freshening the air.

The Senior Citizen Texting Dictionary - 10/01/11 10:53 PM
I recently came across this blog about Seniors texting and I thought it was hilarious.  Any of us who were not born with a cell phone in our hands or are accustomed to writing with full sentences will appreciate the humor.
The auto spell correction on my text also drives me wild.  I send the damnedest messages some times.
