Happy Thanksgiving!
If you are new to town and looking for something to do.... or maybe it's already your Thanksgiving tradition.... here's what's happening in Aiken!
First up:
Bloodies and Bagels, - exactly what it sounds like, haha - enjoy bloody mary's and bagels (with different cream cheese spreads available, too!) There is no charge to attend, but donations gladly accepted :) you can even join as a member.

Not sure why, but for some reason Towns/Cities are not having Memorial Day Parades like they used to ...they are becoming a thing of the past :( It's a shame. Memorial Day is a time for us to say THANK YOU to our servicemen. I always try to thank them when I see them. They put their lives on the line, for my freedom, for our Country, and I am very thankful for that. One of the most fun fundraising events in Aiken! Fun because the celebrity waiter teams are raising money for Childrens Place, and they will do anything (well, almost anything!!) for extra tips!! It's a super fun event. Dinner for a good cause! Even a chance to win a beautiful grand prize! I'm honored to say that I participated twice as a celebrity waiter, and it was a blast!

Fall = Football, colorful leaves, cooler weather, less humidity, earlier sunsets, polo, ... and Steeplechase! The Steeplechase events are an Aiken tradition. The race this Fall is the 25th renewal! Spring 2017 will be the 51st renewal of the Aiken Spring Steeplechase!
Come see horses fly!!! Always a fun day at the races!

Whenever I think about the Harlem Globetrotters I get a smile and start whistling.... remember their theme song? Ahh that song!! It brings back so many memories! I used to love watching these guys on Saturday afternoons, back in the day on TV. Meadowlark Lemmon, Curly Neal, and the rest of the team. Great bunch of atheletes..... although the team has changed over the years, they are still just as good, and fun to watch!

Maid Marion, SC's Champion White Oak. She is a grand White Oak, on Clemson's list of Champion Trees. (largest of her species in the State!) They say she's about 150 years old.... the storm October 4 brought her down. Nature takes care of nature. She was a hot topic recently in the City of Aiken, SC. She was in bad shape and was on the list of trees to be removed. The community was hoping there was a way to save her.
