The drop-off site is the Carteret County Health Department, located at 3820 Bridges Street in Morehead City. Emerald Isle residents can dispose of the following items: latex and oil paints, used motor oil, farm pesticides, gasoline, drain openers, paint thinners, cooking oil, antifreeze, batteries, lawn and garden fertilizer, and pesticides.

During Hurricane Florence the town received an estimated 24 inches (with some reports suggesting as much as 30 inches.) this is believed to be the most significant rainfall event in the Towns history, and equates to a 1 in 1,000 year rainfall event. The towns environmentally-friendly storm water management system along the Coast Guard Road corridor is designed for a 10 inch rainfall event.

Join the Emerald Isle Sea Turtle Patrol as they “Keep Emerald Isle Clean" as part of the Town's "Adopt-a-Beach” Program. The Patrol will help to clean a portion of our beach. The Town will provide all necessary support and supplies, while the volunteers provide the manpower and enthusiasm!
