Can you ever get tired of this beach scene at Kuau Maui?
It's not the first time, and it won't be the last, for me to show off this beautiful peaceful beach scene in front of Mama's Fish House in Kuau Maui Hawaii. When we lived just a few houses away from this beach, I would walk to the beach every morning and comb the sand for seashells. The tidepools are great for dipping in, with no worries about getting swept out to sea.

This crispy whole fish at Mama's Fish House was a special of the day a few weeks ago, and was it ever delicious! With the side of Asian style veggies and coconut rice, it really was too much food - and that doesn't happen often for me.
Apparently the trout are raised on a farm in upcountry Maui, in Kula. I had no idea! Perhaps a visit to the fish farm is in order.

Best table in the house - our view from Mama's Fish House on Maui
We are very lucky to live close to one of the best fine dining restaurants on Maui, so whenever possible we love to have an early dinner or late lunch here at Mama's Fish House Restaurant. During the daytime the views are just beautiful from this oceanfront setting, and when you have a front row table this is as good as it gets.

Fresh fish in Paia Maui Hawaii - Check out the fresh fish truck parked at the edge of Paia town the other day. Plenty of room to pull over and see what they have to offer.
Paia is a little beach town on the north shore of Maui and plenty of people here have boats so they can get in the water and catch some great tasting local fish:

Tropical gardens at Mama's Fish House Restaurant, Maui
If you follow my blog you'll know I post a lot of pictures of the exceptional food at Mama's Fish House, or photos of the views. There's no denying the food is the star of the show when dining here, but there's more to the whole experience than just that.
They also have beautiful tropical gardens for guests to enjoy while they wait. Take a look at these pictures as an example, and you'll see what I mean. Lots of palms, ti leaves, bromeliads, dracaenas, giant taro leaves and more.

Aloha Friday pupus at Mama's Fish House, Kuau Maui
I'm making myself very hungry by looking at pictures of food. Check out these delicious pupus (appetizers) to get you in the mood. The top one is traditional ahi sashimi, served on a bed of shredded cabbage. The second pupu is seared Molokai venison drizzled with a citrus minty glaze. Both are delicious!

Mahimahi (Coryphaena hippurus) is commonly known as dolphin (not the mammal), dolphinfish, or dorado, in other places. It's an open ocean fish found in seas around the world. When a mahimahi takes the hook, its colors are brilliant blue, silver and yellow. These fade in a flash when the fish dies. If you're on Maui and thinking about where to eat, I have a website that will help. Paia town has many great restaurants, as well as stores where you can buy food to go. Mana Foods, the health food store, has a great deli and salad bar, which I frequent often. For a really good fish dinner, we always like to go to the Paia Fish Market and get the Seafood Caesar Salad, with mahi mahi.
