Another reason to buy and close on home before May 1st.  You may be saying to yourself, well I do not qualify for the home buyers credit, so you are doing the lets wait and see what happens. With the anticipation of home prices dropping once again.
Well here in Michigan we have this lovely thing called NON-HOMESTEAD Property taxes.
May 1st is the dead line to file your Michigan Property tax exemption.

Question #1 - How much can I afford - I like that the author did not send the buyer for a pre-approval 1st thing.  Suggested that they do a house hold budget 1st.

I have 2 listings that are very cute and NOT a bank owned or a short sale.  You can even have possession at close and both of them qualify for just about the full amount of the $8,000 1st time home buyers credit.  Well, 110 Graceland qualifies for the full amount - depending on your qualification to receive the full amount of course.
However both of them do qualify for the MCC tax credit for the life of the loan........so not only can you get 8,000 grand back but you can have a tax credit … (4 comments)

These two homes are great!!!!  And let's see.................they fall in the target area for the city of Grand Rapids Down payment assistance, possible 8,000 tax credit and now the MCC tax credit for the life of the loan as long as it stays a owner occupied home!  DANG................what else can we give you????

I was doing some reading on the Tax credit for 1st time home buyers.  Now if I am reading this right:  It states you can have a reduced amount of federal tax with held from your pay check. This allows to you get a bigger pay check, with the intentions of saving this "extra" money for your down payment..........
It also states if you do not use it for down payment you must pay it back right away.
