Interest rates have remained stabile over the last couple of weeks, but have moved down a bit the last couple of weeks. Conforming loans have moved down about an eighth of a point, and 30 year jumbo loans and 7 year jumbo adjustable loans have moved down about a quarter of a point. The following are some excerpts from this week's newsletter on interest rates from HSH Associates :

Interest Rates Move UP - 04/08/11 10:36 PM
Interest Rates have moved back up about 3/8 to 1/2 percentage point over the last three weeks as investors have become increasingly concerned with rapidly growing commodity prices and the potential for inflation.  The easing of the nuclear disaster in Japan has also tended to ease the flight to safety and to treasury securities, which has led to higher yields for securities.

Major Crime Drops in the South Bay - 04/06/11 09:41 PM
Major crime in the South Bay and the Harbor Area dipped another 2.7 percent in 2010, continuing the trend of rates dropping to all-time lows.The overall decrease for areas patrolled by five South Bay police departments coincide with a report in January that showed major crime dropped 7 percent in South Bay cities patrolled by the Sheriff's Department.

The Palos Verdes Peninsula continued to show a very low incidence of major crimes.  There were no homocides on the Peninsula, and only 8 incidences of robbery.  The one area that did show an overall increase in crime was for burlaries, which … (2 comments)

Rolling Hills Estates Planning Commission Approves Chandler Housing Project - 04/06/11 06:36 PM
The Rolling Hills Estates Planning Commission approved yesterday the plans for the new 228 acre 114 home development on the current Chandler's Palos Verdes Sand and Gravel Co. landfill facility and which will include an expansion of the Rolling Hills Country Club golf course as well as a new clubhouse.  The approval occured after an agreement by the developers to donate $1 million for improvements to be made to equestrian facilities within the city limits, but does not require the developer to provide equestrian facilities for the new home sites.
