The RE/MAX National Housing Report for January 2018: "2017 Closes Strong With Record High December Home Prices" was this month's headline. While sales dropped slightly from one year ago, December capped off  2017 with record home prices, speedy sales and low inventory.
 
To quote Adam Contos, RE/MAX Co-CEO:  “We see the median sales price of homes across the country rising every month, year-over-year, but the days on market and the supply of homes for sale hit record lows in December. The RE/MAX National Housing Report for November 2017: "Nationwide Seller’s Market Reigns as Home Prices Climb" was this month's headline.  Despite record low inventory for the month, October home sales increased 2.5% year-over-year and kept 2017 prices ahead of 2016, according to the RE/MAX National Housing Report.
 
To quote Adam Contos, RE/MAX Co-CEO:  “The housing market is steady and at least somewhat predictable with record-low inventory and increasing prices in markets across the country. Many regions across the nation are suffering from a severe lack of housing inventory -- and that includes the Charlotte metro region. June 2017 saw the 25th consecutive month of inventory declines nationally... this, in turn, has resulted in increased home prices (now 64 consecutive months of year-over-year price increases). Lack of inventory and higher home prices have impacted affordability and availabilty for many home buyers, resulting in flat, if not lower, closed sales, as the infographic below clearly indicates.

The RE/MAX National Housing Report for September 2016: August 2016 showed a reversal of July's declines, with home sales increasing 5.1% (sales up in 41 of the 53 metro markets that RE/MAX follows) and with median sale prices also increasing 5.1%.  Through August, seven of the eight months of 2016 showed a year-over-year increase in sales nationally.
