prestonwood forest 77070: Wild Thing! - 03/03/13 11:10 AM
Last night when I went out to the trash can, I noted that a new furry thing had been added to our patio.
After an initial "what the" response I decided that the Wild Thing needed to leave.  I spoke to him or her in my finest opossum screech .  He responded by running his nose into the base of the barbecue pit.  Ouch!  I gave him a little time to regain his composure.  Wonder if possums get embarrassed?
He began to lope slowly toward the back fence.  I followed at a distance to be sure that an exit was in fact achieved. … (8 comments)

prestonwood forest 77070: Introducing Ellie!! - 11/20/12 01:58 AM

There is a yard art emporium that we drive by frequently.About a year ago, there was a huge purple elephant on display right along the entrance to the place.Since we collect elephants and since purple is my favorite color, I was attracted.  That one was clearly not a possibility but deep in the recesses of the yard emporium, were smaller elephants. Our yard has many perfect settings for an addition such as this.  We needed something eye catching and unusual. We had to have two and a half large pine trees cut down last week.  My love for trees goes … (1 comments)

prestonwood forest 77070: Invasive and Prolific - 10/31/12 01:05 AM
It is amazing how often we find illustrations of life principles right under our noses. The photo shows a fence which is being totally covered by "trumpet vines."At the first of the year the same fence was basically bland and uninteresting.Today as you can see it is resplendent with lovely greenery accompanied with massive numbers of seed pods.  The vine is usually full of coral colored , trumpet shaped flowers. The  plant covers a myriad of not so pretty with indescribable natural beauty almost year round.  Right now it appears to be concentrating on creating millions of new plants in the future. It reminds … (3 comments)

prestonwood forest 77070: Incentives for success - 10/30/12 11:59 AM
What motivates us to spend hours working on marketing, pursuing aloof buyers and sellers and generally working ourselves to a nub?It may be the need to pay our expenses. It may be the thrill if success.Or,  it may be the desire to be of significance.Think about the thankless hours we invest in education.  The time spent in pursuit of sales allows us to use all we have learned and vast amounts we have not yet heard of.Our profession is constantly changing and challenges us to keep up.What ever it is that motivates you,  keep it in your sights.  Never surrender to the … (7 comments)

prestonwood forest 77070: Waterfall... - 07/13/12 11:50 PM

In the five years we have lived in this house there have been few rainstorms that produced effects such as the one in the photo.  It  resembles a waterfall.

Lovely to say the least.  Sitting on the patio enjoying sound of the rain on the metal roof Was exhilarating!

The thunder and lightning that accompanied the water was not as much fun.  it was active for almost an hour.

Another example of needing to accept the good with the bad.

After last summer with wild fires all around,  having afternoon showers is greatly preferred,
