     The city of Murfreesboro now has the green light to help stop red-light runners.  The Murfreesboro city council approved a contract with a Maryland company to provide red-light cameras at six major intersections.  The fine for drivers caught running the red lights will be $50 and it will be considered a civil offense, much like a parking ticket.  The intersections where the cameras will be placed are:  Broad and Church St., Memorial and Northfield Blvd, NW Broad Street and Northfield Blvd, S. The Citizens Police Academy of the Smyrna Police Department will be conducted January 24th to April 10th.  This is the perfect class for those people who want a broad overview of the police profession.  The academy provides a forum for exchanging ideas and community concerns as well as giving an overview of the Smyrna Police Department.  The academy classes are scheduled for 6:30 to 9:00 p.m. on Thursday nights.  If you are interesteed, visit www.townofsmyrna.org to download an application.

Smyrna Bulldogs Head to Championship Game. - 12/07/07 12:42 AM
The Smyrna High School Bulldogs are the defending 2006 5A football champions.  Smyrna High takes on Independence High School from Williamson county for the 2007 championship on Saturday at MTSU.  Smyrna defeated Bearden last Friday in the semi-final round.  The Smyrna Bulldogs will play in the BlueCross Bowl for the second consecutive year.  Saturday's championship game is at MTSU's Floyd Stadium and kickoff is at 7:00 p.m.  Tickets are $10 and can be purchased at Smyrna High with half of the sales being donated to the school.  All of the Bulldogs games are exciting and this will be one thriller that you … (2 comments)

Willamson county's Laurel Cove development is working on attracting a PGA golf tournament.  Laurel Cove boasts a golf course designed by golf legend Greg Norman and more than 800 homes.  This will be the first Tournament Players Club in middle Tennessee.  Work has begun this month on the golf course.  The luxury homes in Laurel Cove are priced from $600,000 to $1.1 million and 550 of the 820 homes have already been sold.  The development also includes 5 miles of walking trails and 650 acres of open space according to the Nashville Business Journal.  Laurel Cove is located in College Grove, … (1 comments)

Spring Hill, TN is slated for a new neighborhood development that will double the number of residents in the next 13 years.  According to the Nashville Business Journal, the development called Echelon will feature 3,400 units and it is expected to bring 10,000 residents into the city by 2020.  This will be the first major development on the east side of I-65 at Jim Warren Road.  Echelon will be a traditional neighborhood development (TND) consisting of a town center with living space and retail surrounded by houses.  Other TNDs in middle Tennessee include Lenox Villiage in Nashville and Westhaven in Franklin.  The … (2 comments)
