The Federal Reserve, taking a break from its aggressive rate-cutting policy, chose not to alter key interest rates Wednesday, leaving the Fed Funds rate at 2.00% and everyone wondering where interest rates are headed next.
Since last September, the Fed has cut rates seven times for a total of 3.25%. However, many experts believe that the Fed's decision this Wednesday, along with comments from the meeting itself, indicate an increased concern over inflation. This means the Fed could start increasing rates as early as its next meeting, which takes place in August.

Combating Mortgage Fraud Top Priority for Department of Real Estate
  
PHOENIX -The Arizona Department of Real Estate issued Substantive Policy Statement (SPS) No. 2008.06 today to strengthen efforts against mortgage fraud.  The purpose of the SPS is to prevent mortgage fraud through disclosure of premiums, credits and rebates offered by real estate licensees in a real estate transaction.  Additionally, the Department is drafting stronger rules for real estate licensees which will specifically address mortgage fraud.

Of note: Months supply of inventory is now down to 8.3 months in Tucson, from almost 13 in January 2008. Below are a few good stats.
 
•-          The reduction in Months of Inventory is encouraging news. Every month this statistic improves, it brings us closer to a balanced market and price stabilization. Buyers and sellers should know the market is moving in a positive direction, not negative. Lower median prices will mean more buyers will take interest.
