Weather Vane Ice Cream in Bethalto, IL is a very happening place on a hot summer night. Bethalto has seen its share of ice cream shops come and go, but I think the Weather Vane is here to stay. Located on the busy corner of Rt 140 and Prairie St., it's almost impossible to drive by and not stop. The original store was opened in Granite City in 1960. The Great Godfrey Corn Maze will open for its 10th season on Friday, Sept. 4th at 6:00pm. What is the Great Godfrey Corn Maze? Well, somehow someone manages to cut trails in the 7 acres of corn crop planted at the location. The trails are cut into a maze for visitors to go through. Every year they pick a different design to cut. It may not be apparent what that design is from the ground, but if you were in, say, an airplane or helicopter you would be amazed at what you see.
