Thank you to all of you who have posted the blogs that I have learned from during these past few months. A few favorite books, courtesy of the LIBRARY THING! - 12/22/07 04:44 AM
The Library Thing is a great gadget. If you don't know about it, you can post books you like on your blogs or website, and share them with others. I am always looking for great new books to read that will impart more juicy tidbits to enhance my ability to be a knowledgeable, and special, realtor. Let me know if you have any great books I need to read... if I can stop writing posts on my favorite blogging websites long enough to read a book. P.S. Library Thing allows you to pick and choose how you want your 'library' to appear.

Is it the Secret, or is it Irony? - 12/21/07 03:03 AM
My musings yesterday were thoughts out loud about mentors... those who you can respect and learn from as you traverse the hills and valleys during your first year as a "realtor" - - or any new vocation for that matter. The Secret surrounds you with mantras that "if you think it and want it you can have it." If that's the case, I would already be back on a ranch with horses and cattle, and a cowboy who loves animals in the stall! Yesterday I found someone who definitely could be considered, for me, definitely a mentor, albiet from afar! Was

Where do you find a REAL mentor in your first year of real estate? - 12/20/07 06:59 AM
So yes, you may assume I am 'new' to being licensed, but have years of experience as a real estate paralegal so that is an advantage (I think!), not to mention many years in the business world as a controller, business owner, blah, blah, blah. When I got my NC license early in 2007, I went straight into the 90-hours of post-licensing classes and became a BROKER/Realtor rather than having the dreaded "P" for provisional on my license for 3 years! Following completion of the 90-hours I signed on with Keller Williams because of their educational opportunities. Beyond the extensive educational opportunities

Waynesville, NC Christmas joy everywhere on downtown Main Street! - 12/16/07 02:15 PM
Last night was "Wrap packages for Sarge's" night in downtown Waynesville. Sarge's is an animal rescue operation... they find foster homes for animals until a new home can be found. A cause close to my heart. While my friend Bonnie and I were wrapping presents, we 'met' a beautiful puppy (named "Tiny") who was rescued by Sarge's! Here she is in her red Christmas sweater!! The quaint charm of Waynesville's downtown Main Street was twinkling everywhere with lights and musicians and special treats in the stores... yes, more food for the Holidays! While we were visiting Deja View Gallery (a "must see"),

Christmas parties for realtors in Waynesville and Maggie Valley but no substantial snow yet! - 12/13/07 11:11 AM
The Haywood County Board of Realtors Christmas party last weekend was held at Folkmoot in Waynesville, NC. Weather was warm, relatively speaking, and the food was great (especially the tenderloin). Beautiful gift baskets were given away in gift drawings, and libations ensured some animated and uninhibited dancers as the evening progressed. Several days later another Christmas party was held at the Maggie Valley Country Club with, again, MORE good food. Seating was ample for everyone and I loved my seat right in front of the roaring fireplace. It appeared that a good time was had by all Downtown Waynesville has some

Blogging, IStockPhoto.com, and self-control! - 12/13/07 06:14 AM
Active Rain has been my main blogging site until recently when I started my new blogging website (www.BuckingtheRealEstateTrend.com). Proper etiquette I am unsure of... do I continue both blogging sites? Does one take away from the other, or dilute content? Not sure yet. Any words of wisdom would be appreciated! I love blogging and the things I learn along the blogging path. Sleep? What sleep? When working on a post, off I go on my research and an hour (or two) goes by before I realize I forgot I was working on a post. Holy cow! Granted this is a good

EDGEIO is out... Enter HGTV! - 12/08/07 06:36 AM
While perusing my feeds, WSJ on line, etc., etc., this morning, I noticed articles about the shut down/closing of Edgeio, which led to the article about the closing of CompUSA. while not quite so relevant , interesting at best. My seat partner on a recent flight back to North Carolina from the NAR Convention in Vegas happened to be an employee of the HGTV network so the story about HGTV was of interest to me, and I hope it is to you as well. There sure is a lot to keep up with these days, in every aspect of our business. It is

As our beautiful fall leaves blow over the landscape, Christmas and winter lights are filling in some of the bare spots evident as our temperatures drop in our crisp, and beautiful, winter climate. The snow machines are adding to the natural snowfall on our tubing mountain, and soon the mountain will be filled with people enjoying the thrill of the rapid rubber ride over the snow. And of course we have the Cataloochee Ski Area right up Fie Top Road, minutes from the tubing mountain. Perfect prelude to warming up by the fireplace! Cataloochee Ski Area. Parades decorate our streets during
