freddie mac: Projections are that MORE homes will sell in the near future - 12/10/14 11:17 PM
Recent reports have shown that the Real Estate Market is getting healthier.  In fact, throughout the country prices are appreciating at normal levels in most markets.  
This week a projection showing the total home sales from three different sources through 2016 was published.  All three are predicting more home sales (both existing and new construction.)
Three industry leaders were polled.  Economists from the National Association of Realtors (NAR), Freddie Mac and the Mortgage Brokers Association (MBA) gave their projections.
The chart to the left illustrates the projetions.
Looks like the next couple of years will be busy!!

freddie mac: 3% Downpayments Are Coming Back - 12/09/14 12:35 AM
Yesterday a report on HousingWire.com stated that Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac will be offering 3% down loans again, reducing the minimum downpayment from 3.5%.
Fannie Mae loans will be available as early as December 13, 2014 while the Freddie Mac loans won't be available until March of 2015.  
At this point in time the programs are only eligible for first time home buyers or people refinancing who didn't qualify for a HARP refi.
These loans will require mortgage insurance, but are considered Conventional, not FHA loans.

Freddie Mac just announced record breaking low rates. For a 30 year fixed rate mortgage, the rate is 3.62%. For a 15 year fixed rate mortgage, the rate is 2.89%. To help you figure out how much that means on the home you want to buy, use a mortgage calculator like this one.
