keller williams realty: When It Comes To Empty McMansions, Neighbors Are NOT Saying "I'm Lovin' It" - 02/07/10 09:52 AM

Drive through just about any neighborhood in America and you're likely to find empty houses.  Shiny new homes that never found an owner are abandoned by bankrupt builders.  Subdivisions left largely unfinished by cash-strapped developers.  It seems to be especially unnerving to see the "SUPER-SIZED" or what has been coined the "McMansion" sitting empty.  It is a glaring reminder that, in a bad economy, anyone can lose their home.
It's sad to watch a family have to pack and leave their dream home.  They hang on and make their mortgage payments while trying to sell their home for months or even years.  … (4 comments)

keller williams realty: Sellers: Why is it so important to be gone when your home is shown? - 03/09/08 09:05 AM
Most Sellers understand that it's important to be gone whenever there is a showing on their home.  It's not only important, it's imperative.  In fact, let me take it even a step beyond imperative:  If you stay in the home when it is being shown its
THE KISS OF DEATH !!!
Why?  People want to be able to get nosy.  They want to open drawers, peek up in the attic, check out your closets.  They want to be able to speak openly, and if they're starting to warm up to your home, they want to be able to take their time.
If you are there, … (1 comments)

keller williams realty: LaGrange, KY - Downtown! Let Us Give You a Walking Tour ! - 02/23/08 04:05 PM
Jerry and I built our first home in LaGrange, Kentucky.  When we first drove out to look for land, our daughter, Heather, then only 7 years old, sounded out the words of the sign she saw as we crossed over the Jefferson/Oldham line and shouted, "I don't want to live in OLD - HAM County !"  But she loved living in LaGrange, and is so happy we moved there because it's where she met - and married - her high school sweetheart.
We now live in Crestwood (still in Oldham County), but we both love to take the short drive to LaGrange whenever we … (0 comments)

keller williams realty: Oldham County: A Great Place We Call "Home" - 02/20/08 12:39 PM
Do you remember the TV show, "ALF" ?  The furry alien (last known survivor from the planet Melmac) who crash-landed into the Tanner family's garage?  Well, if you remember the sitcom, you'll also remember Mrs. Ochmonek, the nosy next-door neighbor who constantly tried to find out the true identity of Gordon Shumway.

Okay, where am I going with this?  Jerry and I had our own Mrs. Ochmonek living next door to us when we lived in Jefferson County.  We put up with her constant prying into our business as long as we could, and we put our house up for sale … (1 comments)

keller williams realty: There are Agents, and there are KELLER WILLIAMS Agents... - 02/16/08 10:33 AM

Our newest market center, KELLER WILLIAMS REALTY Louisville EAST is "Up and Running !"

A shifting market requires shifting your education into HIGH GEAR, and that was the central theme of this year's KELLER WILLIAMS Real Estate Convention in Atlanta.  We raced from seminar to seminar (along with 8300 fellow KELLER WILLIAMS agents), eager to learn new and proven strategies that will continue to set us apart as the AGENTS OF CHOICE and power us through a sluggish market.
Recapping the shift in the real estate market, Gary Keller, co-founder and chairman of KELLER WILLIAMS Realty, urged us to seize upon the opportunity to thrive in our current market.  … (0 comments)

keller williams realty: Being Nice DOES Pay Big! I Can PROVE It! - 01/15/08 04:01 PM
I read a post recently about how taking that extra time and going that extra mile, even though you may be thinking that it will result in ZERO dollars in your pocket, often ends up paying BIG!
I'm reminded of a slow day at the office a million years ago when I was a fairly new agent sitting at the "duty desk", waiting (praying) for the phone to ring.
It finally DID ring, and on the other end was a frustrated woman who had called several real estate offices that day.  She said, "I'm in town, and I've been calling for days to … (3 comments)

keller williams realty: You CAN Get Top Dollar - Even in TODAY'S Market ! - 01/09/08 12:59 PM
When I say "TOP DOLLAR", I'm talking about TOP ACHIEVABLE DOLLAR in today's market.  Just what today's TOP ACHIEVABLE DOLLAR is depends upon where you live - your marketplace.
In many pockets of the country there is still a glut of inventory with more homes popping up all the time.  If you plan to sell your home this year, you can't afford to make any mistakes.  Mistakes can cost you hundreds, or even thousands of dollars in lost profit.
Avoiding these mistakes is easy, and can pay you back in BIG DIVIDENDS.  Here are FIVE TIPS that can help:
1.     PRICE IT RIGHT from … (0 comments)
