It's the season for graduations. We have five of them in the family - four from high school and one from nursing school. We are attending only one of the ceremonies, but everyone will get cards and cash. I need to get them in the mail....
I loved the saying in one of the cards. It applies to all of us, not just the graduates:
"Whatever you dream, dream with all your heart - Whatever you try, try with all your heart - and happiness will be yours."
It makes me feel old. I was there when Dustin, my nephew, was born. I changed his diapers and babysat him. Now, he's graduating high school already. Where did the time go?
I was disappointed when I heard the news he was not going to attend college. He had a scholarship that would pay for the first two years of classes, and he had already received college credit for classes taken in high school. The classes are taught in the town he lives in, so he could even live at home while attending classes. He's decided he doesn't want to go... He's not my son; I can't tell him what to do.
It might be better if he takes some time to decide what he wants out of his life. I quit after my second year in college, took over a year off (worked), went back and finished two degrees. Now, I use neither degree for my career... Maybe he'll decide to go to a trade school. He loves computers, so maybe he'll consider more training in that field. I just want him to be happy in whatever he does...
