Gianni Versace's former South Beach home on Ocean Drive

Here's a great aerial (taken by me) of the late Gianni Versace home at 1100-1116 Ocean Drive in Miami Beach

The property consists of two lots; the corner lot was the former Revere Hotel which Versace bought in 1993 for $3.7M, and the main home which he purchased in 1992.

The property was sold after his death in 2000 for $19,000,000 and is now a private membership club.

Nice.  Hard to imagine it being worth so much money, but it is a pretty striking piece of property.  I even recognized the front facade of the home, which suprised me.

...and that was in 2000.  I'd estimate it to be around $30-$40m today.

It's astounding how much money real estate goes for in south Florida. But my actual thought when looking at the photo is that it doesn't look secure. I'd expect someone that famous to want something secluded or at least with a security wall and gates, for security purposes.

Hi Kevin - interesting perspective from this view.  It astounds me that property that valuable is in such close proximity to those abutting properties.  It looks like you could reach out and touch that hotel or condo complex next door.

Kevin.....I lived in Miami, and worked in Miami Beach at the Fontainebleau Hilton Resort.....before he ever even owned this place! I can remember walking in front of it one day.....changed a bit now! LOL!

I was just on your website (watch for e-mail) and saw what they've done to the 'Bleau! I've got original ashtrays from when the hotel opened in the '50's....wonder what I could get for them now!

Thanks for this picture and trip down memory lane!

Hi Kevin,

Nice aerial shot. I rarely get to that part of FL, but happened to be there right after he was killed. I remember standing in front of that house thinking about what had just happened there. It was actually a little eerie - especially because some of the lights were still on. Thanks for sharing.
