The Universe Is Telling You Something But You're Not Listening

Universe ShoutingThere is a communication technique that might be a little on the "deep" side but if anyone can portray deep here it is me. The thought is

The Universe Is Telling You Something But You're Not Listening.

It has to do with tuning into what is happening in your life. Lessons you need to learn, where if you don't learn them you will keep making the same mistakes over and over again or stay in the same situations without change. It involves carefully listening with all senses, head and heart, about what is going on in your career, family, friends, all kinds of relationships, how you are doing with money, your spritual choices, and most important your life direction.

The way you know you are not listening is you don't get out of ruts. Life is meant to be lived going forward without fear and in abundance, not wallowing in ruts.

A famous Dr. Phil TV show line he uses as a psychologist when reflecting on a situation is, "So, how's that working for you?" If not so hot, maybe you too are not listening to the universe and need to re-evaluate what you are doing and how you are living around a situation.

Another deep corollary to this whole you live in a universe thing, is "what the universe gives you." Sometimes it leaves you disappointed. Sometimes you are overwhelmed with its overflowing blessings in a certain area. A real serene way to live is to live with acceptance. Be overjoyed when the universe for whatever reason is showering you with tremendous gifts. Where there are those times when it comes up just a little short just observe and say, "isn't that interesting?" and move on.

By very much finding ways to tune into the universe around you with phrases like "how is that working for you?" it allows you to make mid course corrections and steer your ship the way you want to go.

It is the set of the sails, not the direction of the wind that determines which way we will go." ~Jim Rohn

I am turning my face up to the shower the university is pouring on me!  Only good things will happen today.  xxoo

Also, about being stuck in a rut... I had been in a rut for months here.  A friend and fellow Realtor, Ed Fordyce recently became a team member at Keller Williams and he has, as a friend, started pushing me out of my rut.  Just as I was turning my brain around to his way of thinking I got an email.  I am a member of the How to Win Friends and Influence People group over on Facebook.  The person who runs the group regularly sends positive quotes from Dale Carnegie.  Here's one for this week:

"Inaction breeds doubt and fear. Action breeds confidence and courage. If you want to conquer fear, do not sit home and think about it. Go out and get busy."

Would I have been able to read this email if I hadn't decided to start listening?  I would have read it, but I wouldn't have heard it!

Gary, another terrific blog.  Kudos!  The universe is smiling down on me these days, my eyes and ears are open. Several times in my life the parallel lines of the universe have crossed and wonderful things happened.  It is another of those times now, for me.  I write to encourage others that the content of your blog is absolutely true...    Yesterday 3 people, who don't know each other, called me on business.  Each of them expressed, in their own words, the phenomena of "The Law of Attraction"  -- and little did they know that their calls to me were astonishing!  One was a broker who found me by Google and who answered questions I was asking others... the second a tenant... third was another professional I've never met, who is going to be a panel member for a Self-Directed IRA forum our company has scheduled for June 2.    Keep the faith everyone.  And pay attention to the little things.  The world is filled with abundance, and we are rich.

The unexamined life is not worth living - I once read. Being fully presesnt is something many of us find challenging trying to multi-task. I've learned that there is no such animal as multi-tasking, only being where you are, and gently moving aside the negative thoughts and replacing them with positive ones.

You can't think your way to right action, but you can act your way to right thinking

Gary - I have always lived by this mantra:

I set my sights high.

I set my expectations higher.

Always seems to keep me on point.

Thanks for another one of your awe-inspiring posts.  Great job!

I love Dr. Phil's line "how's that working for you"? Great post Gary.  It's true that often God or the universe are trying to tell us something and we hear, but don't listen.    We have to listen. :)

Virginia: Moving on takes determination and courage, but it is very freeing.

Tony and Darcy: Daily journaling is a great tool to learn from for listening.

June: Coincidences don't happen so have this post as food for thought and just as all of us should do, work harder at listening to what is being said to you over and over again. You'll figure it out.

Jesse: Opportunities pass by all the time and we only take them or seize them if we listen and know they are there.

Michael: Taking time to listen from ears and all means of sensing is key.

Andrea: Yes, I am reading your mind LOL. Losing positive momentum happens to all of us. Just readjust the sails once you figure out where the wind is blowing from.

Judy: We should all be given four wheel drives with a bumper sticker that says NO RUTS!! Enjoy your weekend too.

Fernando: Interesting idea that our experiences are our own. Makes sense because WE are the ones that have to learn.

Don: I will see you out there in the water sailing.

Zane: Yes, we need to get out of those ruts.

Richard: Experience is a great teacher if we don't have to go back and take the class over and over again.

Mary: Letting go of the past is a tremendous thought. You have a good weekend too.

Hi Sharon Lee: Beautiful flowers in the comments. Thanks.

Hi Sally: I am looking forward to your how I learned post. Smacking upside the head is what often happens to us.

Scott: Jim Rohn's quote shows we do have some control in all of this.

Hi Deb: Love your open mind thought. You are always making me laugh.

Toula: I am very glad you are all right. When your life flashes in front of you like that it can be a big wake up call. Take care of yourself and drive as safe as you can. Very scary.

Hello Susan: Action is where it is at in moving forward. I love that you collect quotes. I do too. You are listening Susan, as that is the first step prior to action.

Ann: Your kids need you as their guide. They are in good hands.

McCoy Real Estate: I believe in that abundance as well and glad it is working for you. We are rich beyond compare if we will allow ourselves to see it.

Janice: Action and an examined life will take you a long way.

Carol: Reach for the moon and shoot for the stars. I love your way of thinking.

Hi Sharon Paxson: Moving forward is always the way to go.

Hello Tammy: We just have to perk up those ears and senses a bit.

Gary:  Reminds me of the folks that constantly have problems, but realize that they are the common denominator to their problems.  It's something in them that needs to be adjusted.

Gary, I sometimes conduct workshops where I try to explain the importance of "listening."  Unfortunately, few really get it.  The answers to all our questions/problems are "out there" or "in here" depending upon your point of view, but we generally overlook them.

An important concept I've discovered is that the messages often seem so trivial that we ignore them, and ignoring the trivial seems to create blockages for the more important messages.  It's as if the Universe is testing to see if we're listening.  The other problem we humans have is having pre-conceived notions of what the message should be; when it doesn't come as expected, we wait for the "right" one.

Gary, Dr. Phil's quote is wonderful!  I've heard him say it many times and it's true.  When somethings not working, turn it around.  I rarely find myself in a rut, they're not at all fun--or productive!

I think I hear what the universe is saying, but I don't want to accept it! No doubt, the message is not what I want to hear, and I keep fighting it, thus I'm in a rut. How's that working for me? It's not! Still, I am so stubborn, and I keep fighting to get what I want. I'll let you know when I get this resolved!

Thank you for sharing!  It is so easy to be stuck in a rut but so much more fun to get out of it and move forward.  We just need a reminder every once in awhile.

Gary - Sometimes there are very subtle signals that you really have to read to know what the universe is trying to tell you.  As long as you keep trying, and make changes when things are not working, you will find your way.  Thanks for the words of wisdom.

Gary,

I'm not sure who said this (John Lennon?), "Life is what happens to you while you are making other plans", but it is true so often. Stopping to make a reality check should be a regular thing.
