If you are familiar with Occoquan Virginia then you know its a quaint little waterfront village on the banks of the Occoquan River.It's a little destination town,the kind that makes you walk slower, breathe deeper and take in all the delightful sights and sounds. A place where you can stroll along the streets, pop in and out one of kind shops. Each of the merchants does a wonderful job of keeping inventory fresh and interesting. Many of the shops have websites to give you a preview of what Occoquan Virginia has to offer. For example The Closeline and Details are two boutiques, Quinns jewelry store, and Brambles is a one of a kind stunning shop that offers French Country/Garden Style furnishings and decorator pieces.
It's the kind of little town where there are hidden treasures on the side streets and up the steps behind other buildings.
When it comes time for lunch, don't miss the The Garden Kitchen! It's darling. Located at 404 Mill Street, it's up near the end of town, across from the antique store. Look for it on the left. You must climb the steps between two buildings and tucked up in the back is a darling courtyard garden and restaurant! You can choose to eat outside in the garden courtyard or inside. You order your food, they give you a number and a staff member brings you your food. So when it's time to relax and have some good lunch conversation head to The Garden Kitchen.
This little place oozes charm and it's very good. It's a very popular spot for the locals and a line can form. For example we visited on Mother's Day. The special was a chicken salad sandwich with chips, beverage, soup or a piece of homemade pie was $8.95. Check out the menu.
