A new report by the Department of Public Service shows that New York City will need a new area code by 2011. 718 and 347 which include all the boroughs but Manhattan will run out within the next 2 years. They must now decide whether to create an area code that will include all five boroughs or a new one for the four borough area. A new area code for the four borough group would last approximately 10 years. A new area code across all five boroughs would last approximately 6 years.
