NEW AREA CODES?

By
Real Estate Agent with SHAHAR Management

numbersA new report by the Department of Public Service shows that New York City will need a new area code by 2011.  718 and 347 which include all the boroughs but Manhattan will run out within the next 2 years.   They must now decide whether to create an area code that will include all five boroughs or a new one for the four borough area.  A new area code for the four borough group would last approximately 10 years.  A new area code across all five boroughs would last approximately 6 years.

Hey Debra!  We have so many area codes up here its crazy, in fact most of us don't think of them as an area code any more - just 10 digit phone numbers!!  Handy though when trying to figure out where people live! :)

We have alot down here now too.  Not too long ago there weren't that many.  It is getting alittle harder to figure out where people are calling from because of the cellphone area codes being added to the mix.

I remember living in Manhattan when they added the 718 area code! Shows how old I am, huh?

I also remember the episode of Seinfeld when Elaine was refused a date because she didn't have a 212 telephone number!
