Silly Saturday Night Post: Cool! You've Got A Web Browser!

10 year old with Grandpa Oso's Blackberry

She turned 10 three days ago.  This morning my grand daughter and I drove to the Pusch Ridge Stables in Catalina State Park for her first ride.

The drive took 45 minutes, and on the way, she asked to see my Blackberry.  The next ten minutes were a monologue to no one in particular, emanating from the little one in the back seat.

"Cool!  You have a web browser!"  "I wonder if I can get to my email on Verizon.net?"  "Whoa!  That's fast."  "Let's see what other applications you have on this thing..."  "A bunch."  "Grandpa, did you know you can watch TV on this?"  (I didn't.)  "My daddy just got one of these, and I'll bet he doesn't know it can do this..."  "You have your own schedule on this!  Let's see if I can put everything we're going to do today into your schedule."  "May I?"  Sure.

Ten minutes later, she had scheduled the horse ride at 7:00 a.m., breakfast with friends and Grandma at 9:00, the International Wildlife Museum for 11:00, going to the pool at 3:00 and a night visit to the Desert Museum for 6:00 p.m.

I would have been president of the universe at age 60 if I had half the brain she has when I was her age.  LOL

Keep up, Grandpa!

Mike - Children are our future and the future looks bright. Very bright. In the meantime, you might want to put her on your payroll. ;-)

I learned most everything I know from my sons.  I imagine that in a few years my little grandson will also be teaching this old dog some new tricks :-)

She's precious Mike.  I'm sure you both had a wonderful time!

I completely understand.  When I purchased my first PC, it was a grandchild who showed me how to turn it on.  Geez.

I am thinking that the term teckie applies to all of those that are getting out of kindergarden and moving into the first grade.  It is amazing what YOUNG kids know today about the gadgets we use.

Don,

Ain't it the truth!

Lenn,

The thought makes me smile.

Kris,

Thanks!  We certainly did.

Judy,

My thought exactly!

Terry,

Now there's a thought!  I'll have her people call your people.

Darcy,

We sure did.  She's here for a week, and we're enjoying ourselves.

Virginia,

It was a beautiful ride.  I'm with you on the directions thing.

Matt,

I'll bet you'll be scheduling a vacation out in Tucson in the future!

Leolinda,

Too fast.  That's what Grandma says.  :)

Rita,

Too funny!

Liz,

Yes they are!  Thanks for stopping by.

Richard,

Congratulations on the appearance of your new little grand-daughter, and thanks for being the first to comment.

I loved seeing Hanna in the backseat of your car going to the Stables.  How cool is that - what a fun day with Grandpa.  Did you guys finish that last 1 mile?

They live in a different world then the one we grew up in.  I believe that more information is usually better, even though a lot of the news media spins the news into fiction.

Mike, that's a sweet post. I'm bringing my two granddaughters, 6 and 8 to the island in July for three weeks. Can't wait. My 8 yr. old invited me to a video chat back when she was three. And my almost 2 yr. old granddaughter, well i think she' ready for her first iPhone.

Ok, now is your big chance - anything you want to learn on that phone - just get the kid to teach you! Sounds like you are both having a wonderful time. :)

What a contrast between the technology of the Blackberry and the beauty of the Tucson desert. Sounds like your granddaughter could get an early start on her college fund by freelancing as your tech advisor!

Aren't they refreshing and scary all at the same time?  LOL  But it's wonderful that at her age she has such a grasp on the technologies that will keep evolving over he lifetime.  I'm betting this young lady is destined for great things.  :)

Mike- It is amazing what kids know how to do with computers these days.  Makes me look forward to the days when my daughter is old enough to show me how to do things on my phone and computer.

God Bless the little ones!  It's amazing how fast kids and technology just gel...my 4 year is the same way.  She said to me, "that it's okay to mess-up your phone mommy, that is the olny way your going to learn."  Cute!

Great photo's!

Cheron,

It's the truth!  Out of the mouths of babes...

Kim,

At the beginning of the last century, farmers had children to help with the farm.  Today ours teach us technology!  LOL

Carol,

From your mouth to God's ears!  :)

John,

Hey!  I already make her blueberry pancakes.  You're saying I have to pay her, too?!  LOL

Eileen,

It's good to see you; we sure did have a great time.

Ann,

Thanks so much!  It's fun being a Grandpa.

Rebecca,

Thanks for commenting; sorry I took so long to get back to everyone.  Little one and I were busy having fun!

Ronnie,

A video chat with a three year old!  At her invitation.  Wow!

Larry,

That's the long and short of it!

Connie,

Yes I am!  :)

Kathie,

We didn't finish the 100 miles yet, but Little One picked out Grandma's next charm for her Pandora mileage bracelet.  Just hit 82 miles this morning.

Susie,

Thanks for saying so; we had a blast.

Morning Mike, I was going through some of your blogs and found this sweet one, just had to comment. First of all what a fun day you two had planned. Great photos you've got of her!

Secondly it's truly amazing how those youngins' can figure out all electronics in record time. Last year when my grown daughter visited us she had my husband's satellite radio programmed to 'beep alerts' when all her favorite bands were about to be played. He tried for weeks to figure out to stop that darn thing, LOL!

But it was a nice reminder of her 'those beeps', when she was back in her state :)

Cynthia,

We just had a ball together, Miss Hanna and I, on this ride.  I take a back seat to most of my grandkids when it comes to new electronics.
