Karen and I moved to Lake Ridge in 1982 and immediately became involved in the community. When we heard about the project to build the Fantasy Playground on Cotton Mill Drive we added it to our list of activities that would give us an opportunity to serve our chosen community.
We were already involved with Toastmasters, Boy Scouts and Rotary International, but decided this would provide a permanent facility that would serve "Little Lake Ridgers" for many years to come and we wanted to be part of the action. It took 1,400 volunteers over 4 days to complete the project. Of course, it has weathered and been refurbished over the past 19 years, Since we live nearby we drive past it every day and, I must admit, I fondly remember every blister we earned on the project.
Lake Ridge is a vibrant subdivision with all the amenities you would find in a medium size town of 38,000 people.
