Downtown Akron Partnership invites you to...GO:     Get Out of the Office!

 
GO is an initiative to get Downtown employees out of their offices and into Downtown - utilizing all the great businesses and amenities that Downtown has to offer.  GO activities include a full schedule of events hosted by your neighbors - Downtown businesses and organizations. Everything from walking tours, fitness days, outdoor recreation, book clubs, music concerts, sneak peaks and behind the scenes looks at projects will be featured.   

GO: Events

Mondays:           Downtown Insider (tours & sneak peeks of Downtown establishments)
Tuesdays:          How To Tuesdays (gain valuable information & have fun)
Wednesdays:      Walking Wednesdays (get some exercise & learn new stuff)
Thursdays:        Recreation Thursdays (come out & play)
Fridays:             Fresh Air Fridays (walk around, visit a restaurant or ride the trolley)  

 July 13-17
Everyday
11 a.m.-1:30 p.m.:Recess from Work at Lock 3.  Need a break from the office? Check out Recess from Work at Lock 3. Play bocce ball, throw a frisbee or fly a kite.

Get some fresh air and de-stress!

All activities are free and open to all Downtown employees.  

Monday, July 13 12-1 p.m.: See Downtown from the Top of Cascade One!, Get a new perspective of downtown from the 22nd floor of Cascade Plaza. After the tour, enjoy lunch at the picnic tables on the plaza, Meet in the lobby of One Cascade Plaza

5 p.m.: Free ABS Class, Canal Square YMCA, One Canal Square Plz

Tuesday, July 14
12-1 p.m.: How to prep your flower beds, Learn great tips for making your garden a beautiful masterpiece, Lock 3, flower bed at front gate

Wednesday, July 15
11 a.m.-1 p.m.: FREE Glassblowing Demonstrations at Akron GlassWorks, Come see how its done!  Check out how the artist's create unique pieces of glass, Demonstrations are Free!

11:45-1:15 p.m.: Lunch Hour Concert Series, Cascade Plaza

11:45-1:15 p.m.:Meet the Rubber City Roller Girls, Cascade Plaza

12-1 p.m.: FREE Step Class, Canal Square YMCA, One Canal Square Plz

12-1 p.m.: Downtown Historic Tour with Larry Pentecost,  Lock 3

5 p.m.: Free ABS Class, Canal Square YMCA, One Canal Square Plz

Thursday, July 16
6 p.m.: Thirsty Thursday Special at Akron Aeros, Enjoy discounted tickets and a tour of the stadium, Canal Park Stadium

Friday, July 17
All Day: Ride Your Bike to Work day

11 a.m.-1:30 p.m.: JSK Cafe, John S. Knight Center

11:30 a.m.-1 p.m.: Lunch at Mustill Store

Sounds like a great promotion to help small business and keep interest downtown.  I love the idea of taking a break and heading outside for a little while.  It is very good for you to get up and out and move around!
