Summer's here - reminder for all you DSLR owners!

When it gets very humid out, and there is AC in your car and in the house, pack a cooler in your car to keep your camera at a median temperature.  Otherwise your lens will fog up, condensation will get inside your camera and well... as i'm sure you can imagine it's just not good for your camera. Also, keep your batteries cool and dry.
I bought a car charger for my batteries on ebay for $5 - it's been well worth it!  I charge it up between shoots and never have a dead battery.  I have one for the AA Batteries for my external flash as well!
Another tip - when you're shooting outside - don't forget the sunscreen!  I was reminded of this when my grandmother ended up with skin cancer on her nose and just had it removed - not at all attractive and the melenoma is a scary cancer to have on your face.

Good reminder. Especially, here in Southeast LA. I worry about my laptop as well with the heat. Great Post.

Hmm, maybe someone should invent a laptop cooler? lol  Actually, something to insulate it from  humidity really would be ingenius.  Lets get working on that!  Otherwise, I forgot to mention a funny little trick that I did learn - you know those wierd little packets they put in with shoes when you buy them?  They are there to absorb humidity.  That would be a good thing to just put in your laptop case and camera bad to help with humidity.  I actually save those and keep them in a baggie.  =D

Jane - I had not considered a cooler before for sealed storage but that is a great idea.

Don't the people with regular Point and Shoot cameras count?  They have batteries too.

Jane - I just bought a DSLR and I added a small cooler to my vehicle.  I can't wait for the first time my daughter opens it up and finds a camera inside...it will be priceless.

Hopefully your daughter won't put ice in the cooler and put your camera on ice.

Good tips,

I'm going to look for the car charger for batteries, I have a car charger that I can plug my lap top in.

Thanks

I live in Arizona, so I don't worry much about moisture and humidity, but when I was up in Washington I keep a few packets of silica gel in my camera bag to absorb moisture.
