This Blog from Laura Jefferson in South Carolina... she reports a study from Madison Wisconsin on Guiness Beer and how it's really good for you!

Via Laura Jefferson (Acquire Real Estate):

Chip (My Husband) was quick to email me this breaking news. His subject line was he told me so. Great! Another excuse to drink more beer is what I needed from the media to aid him in his occasional indulgence. LOL

The University of Wisconsin told doctors at the American Medical Association confrence in Orlando, Florida that A pint of Guinness stout may have the same impact in improving blood circulation as a low dose of aspirin. The experts believe that in addition to the anti-clogging qualities of alcohol, some ingredients in Guinness can actually slow deposits of cholesterol in the blood. You can read the full story here.

Chip now has a 12 pack of Guinness stout on the grocery list and he threw the aspirins away. By my calculations that 12 pack should last 12 days. I reality I don't give it a week.

Thanks for the chuckle here Rich!  I think alcohol in moderation calms people - and that is a good thing!

"And God Created Alcohol So The Irish Would Not Rule The World"

The irony about this "Irish Beer", it's made in England!  Hmmmm......

Vegetarians - You can't drink this!  It is made with isinglass finings made from fishes' air bladders!

April, your husband edited out....."Researchers found that antioxidant compounds in Guinness, similar to those found in certain fruits and vegetables, are responsible for health benefits because they slow down the deposit of harmful cholesterol on the artery walls."   Toss him an APPLE and he can get the same health benefits!   LoL

Great information on Beer.  As I have been told often enough, I am not grown enough for Guinness, (too strong for me, yuck!).

My husband prefers the Black and Tan.  I won't show him this article :o)!  Thanks for the post!

Schoal!!!  I have never been one to take a lot of pills...I wonder how this is for a headach.  In the 60's, my grandfather had a severe heart condition.  The Dr. ordered a shot of Brandy morning, noon and night as a blood thinner.  My grandmother had a real hard time with this...grandpa said "Well, if 3 are good, then 6 are better."

Now this is great news if you ask me. Guinness has always been my favorite beer, so now I have a good excuse to enjoy myself.
