Mark Your Calendar Sun City West Community Garage Sale 2009

Until a few years ago, the Sun City West retirement community garage sale was traditionally held the Saturday before Halloween in October of each year. People from all over the valley would go early to pick up their favorite treasures. One year there was almost 100,000 people in attendance, all you could see was a sea of heads. There are over 45,000 people calling Sun City West home and the community garage sale was one of the largest in the State of Arizona.

I vividly remember attending the Sun City West community garage sales. We'd wake up early in the morning and head towards Sun City West from Phoenix.  Although the garage sale started at 7am, many people were there at the crack of dawn, with their flashlights and umbrellas in hand.  Antiques, furniture, household items, crafts, woodworking, ceramics, stain glass and anything you can think of related to golf was on sale.

This year the Recreation Centers of Sun City West has decided to resume the Sun City West Community-wide Garage Sale.  It will be held on October 24 from 7am to 11am.  Sellers are only Sun City West residents with current recreation cards.

It is a great time for Sun City West residents to get rid of their extra or unused "stuff".  It's an excellent buying opportunity, especially for antique collectors, ebay sellers, home owners, remodelers, renters, stagers, and golfers to get great items at reasonable prices.  Everything you can think of from A to Z will be sold.  As usual, Maricopa County Sheriff's deputies will control traffic and oversee the residents transactions.  Best of all, admission is FREE!

Each seller will have a parking space to fill with their items for sale. Buyers should wear a good pair of walking shoes, take lots of one dollar bills and get there early.  Concession stands will be selling coffee, donuts and beverages.

The garage sale will be held at the parking lot next to the old Sun Dome Stadium on R H Johnson Blvd, across the street from Ken Meade Realty.
