It Really Is All About Celebration

It Really Is All About Celebration.

But Gary, what about the horrible things that happen in life, the disappointments, the setbacks, the failures? True. Life can have its moments that are the pits. You can live for a period of time in the troughs of life, even in depression. I have my own famous observation, and that is you can be crying in your car with the doors locked after someone dear to you has died, and yet on the talk radio station they are making jokes about politicians or actresses at the same time. Or you can get a nice birthday card or gift in the mail and sure enough those darn bills keep coming in.

Life is a mixture of the ups and downs. But through it all it still can be a celebration. What I mean by that is that you can have an inner joy, an inner serenity, that in the universe, in the wide world view of things, happenings and events are just as they should be. Not that you don't work to move your world the direction you want it to go, but also being at peace where you are right now, and where you end up. Don't hold onto life too tightly with your expectation.

Breathe in restfully and just enjoy those moments that take your breath away.

It's always a choice Gary. There are days when we have to actually look to find the joy and choose to focus on that rather than the problem/issue/annoyance of the moment. Cheers!

Hi Gary.  Life is a mixture of the ups and downs...

You can say that again!

I wish I could always maintain the inner peace when things get dire.

Oh well, like everything else, a work in progress.

Thanks for writing,

Ken

Gary--Just like a rollercoaster...you have to have some lows to know how special the highs are! Life is like that too. And we have to embrace the special moments!

Well put, Gary.  One of the best pieces of advice I ever read was to keep in mind that whether things are really good or really bad "This too shall pass."  Cherish the good times and know that the rough spots won't go on forever.

Hi Gary,

I like the way you addressed the Ups and Downs of life. The rough spots come and go but the good times more than make up for them!

Hi Gary

Outstanding post, life goes up, life comes down; life is about how we take it all in the way we look at things, look for things to be thankful for and learn to celebrate.

Good luck and success.

Gary..My wise daughter ( wiser than her mom ) .will remind me on occasion..." mom don't expect anything from anyone that way when someone does the un expected you will be pleasantly surprised "   So true  ..no frustration..no dis disappointments.

It is tough in those down , achy times when you want to crawl in a corner and cry until there are no more tears left and yet the rest of the world goes on it merry, happy,  normal way.  The only way I  bounce back from trying time is through my faith..thank God I have my faith......Thanks for the thought provoking blog.  .A person just has  to look at the whole picture....a storm doesn't last forever and sometimes we are blessed with a beautiful rainbow symbolic of the hope we need to carry on.

Hi Gary, what a truly lovely post. I am very much the type of person that draws strength and peace from within and I do my best to share it with others. Sure there's a lot of things that affect us in a hard way but truly treasuring the great moments is what matters. As I watch my dad go through chemo treatments I'm reminded of just how precious life is and am making the most of our time together. I hold onto the belief that there's nothing I can't handle and knowing that the rough times will pass and I'll be stronger and better equipped to handle the next one that comes along. Thanks for the inspiration. ~Anne Marie
