What's Better than a Referral Form from Active Rain? Its being able to notify the Active Rain member that provided you with that referral that you now have a ratified contract. Yes, that's right.
About two weeks ago I received a referral from none other than Lenn Harley (Part I). Within a short time I was in contact with the customer and made arrangements to meet with her and her husband the following Saturday. We looked at two houses.* Yes, that's right...two houses. They went home to think about it and called me the next evening to tell me they wanted to write a contract. Within a couple of days we had the contract written, signed off by my clients, and an earnest money check was sent over-night to my office.
Ratification took longer than usual because the Seller was traveling to India and back but it did get done. We accomplished that today and an e-mail was sent to Lenn this evening to give her an update.
Yes, I know we still have a ways to go before settlement (scheduled for October 9th) but I wanted to share the good news now. Closing or not, in fact contract or not, Active Rain provided me with an opportunity to become known by another REALTORwho wanted to refer a prospect to an agent at Lake Anna. Fortunately, Lenn made her selection through Active Rain and I was the lucky recipient.
If you have ever received a referral as a result of your presence on Active Rain you will know how great you feel when that happens. It has happened for me a couple of times before. This is my first success story.
If you have never received a referral hang in there. It will happen. It may not happen as quickly as you would like it to but when it does you will feel great.
Don't forget to think about Active Rain if you should ever need to send out a referral. You will find a member here that will do you proud!
* The reason we only looked at two houses is because there were only two waterfront houses in their price range. We were unable to find anything at Lake Anna in that range but found two over at Lake Louisa, in Blue Ridge Shores, that met their requirements. They are very happy and that's what counts!
