Distressed Properties

By
Real Estate Agent with Weichert Realtors HQ

I have a home listed that is in a high end community that is in disrepair. We have rented it out three times for the owner( a good family friend) and each tenant (who I recomended that he not rent to) has made the property progressively worse. The neighbors are now calling me to complain about the property and scheduling appoinments to view it then cancelling at the last minute. I have gotten to the point that I am going to start requesting pre-approvals before I show it. This way they will be forced to give me there ss number before I bother wasting my time. So if they are just screwing with me then they will not want to give it and I will know they are fake and that should stop the harrasment.

I feel this same way about leases in general. I don't like to do them because renters are usually so sketchy; you never know if they will show up or leave you waiting there. Good luck!
