So, You went to the bank. Met with the person across the desk. They told you that the RANGE or Beacon Score that is related to your Credit Record is too low for the money that you want to borrow. You feel that you want to afford that pretty house that your wife wants.

You want to make you family happy, but.....

There are so many people who have been set aside by the banking industry because their credit scores don't match a certain standard and the banker isn't interested in giving them solid information to  help them become a future client.

Its nice to see you're out there taking that extra step. Good luck to you.

David -

Thanks for the post.  Buy a little later is certainly a lot better than don't buy at all.

Thank you for all of your comments. Consumers often do not realise that a banking institution sells ITS products only. They are not there to help you fix credit bureau related reporting and error issues. Thats why its so important to let sonsumers know that other services are available. When they are ready then we have a new pool of home buyers!

I have a couple of thoughts on this.  First off is that it amazes me how few people regularly check their credit scores.  Especially now that we all get one free report a year.  It should be something you do on your birthday every year (at the least.)

The other was your comment about wanting to "afford that pretty house that your wife wants".  This is funny timing because I just had a conversation with one of my friends that was lamenting that he is making payments on a car he didn't really want, but bought because his now ex-girlfriend wanted it at the time.  Especially now, it is important to not over shoot what you can purchase as a consumer and it might be better to live in a very affordable but slightly smaller home than the dream home, at least not right out of the gates.

Being up front about their credit score is so important.  Telling the buyers to hold off on buying that new car fro the new driveway until AFTER they has purchased their home...little mistakes they can make that this conversation can help them avoid, is so important.
