From June 23 thru July 4 Sarasota Florida is a hotbed of activity. The Grand Prix Festival has begun! It all started Saturday, the 23rd with a Charity Golf Tournament at the Heritage Oaks Golf & Country Club in an 18-hole Scramble format. Afterwards, the party of all parties...the Festival Kickoff Party with silent and live auction. Some of the other festivities leading up to the actual race include a Fishing Tournament that benefits the Physically & Mentally Challenged, The World's Largest Offshore Party sponsored by the Hyatt (that's on June 28th if you're insterested!).
If you're into Parade's, on June 29th there's the Festival Parade of Boats on Main Street in downtown Sarasota and you'll also enjoy a great block party, a car show and the powerboats on display after the parade.
On Saturday the Festival creates a day full of activities for the entire family. You can meet the drivers and crews with race teams from around the US who will be competing in the Offshore Grand Prix. You'll see powerboats on display, great food, live entertainment and the best part is it's all FREE!!!
There's also a People's Choice Bike Show sponsored by Rossiter's Harley-Davidson and Manatee River Harley Davidson.
Finally, Sunday July 1, let the races begin! The heats begin and you can feel the excitement and watch the powerboats compete offshore right before your eyes.
