If you've ever seen the movie then you know what I'm talking about. It's a eye patch wearin', gun slingin', don't mess with me while I'm drinkin' my whiskey kind of attitude. True Grit was filmed in our town almost 40 years ago and this fall there may be a sort of reuniting in Hartwell Park. The Ouray News just reported today efforts to bring back members of the cast and other hollywood names for what could be the largest event inside the town limits. I'm not sure our little town can handle the crowd, but I'm sure we'll find a way. There are a lot of hurdles yet to be cleared, so stay tuned and mark your calendars for history in the making this September. It's the same weekend as the Imogene Pass Run which certainly describes individuals with some serious true grit.

Floyd that would be a treat for the town. Just remember if Punxsutawney PA can handle Groundhogs Day I am sure you guys will find a way to handle the crowds.

Ashley - Excellent point. Got anyone in the Hotel development business? We could use another really good hotel in town and I've got the land to sell them :). Just got home from Sunday in the park, our church's biggest event of the year and I was the coordinator this year. We had about 400 people so I'm wiped!

Floyd I would love to have someone looking to develop a hotel. I did hear from someone wanting to turn an old hotel into urban living spaces in Albuquerque. If I was you I would write a blog about it and harness the power of Active Rain. That is how I heard from the developers of the old hotel.

Floyd I would structure it towards the investors/developers that you think the property will appeal to and make sure to include it on localism.com. Google will pick it up and shoot it to the top of the search if done correctly.
