Pocono Medical Center's Nurse Family Partnership is a community based preventive care model that transforms the lives of vulnerable women pregnant with her first child. During pregnancy the women are coached on how to have a healthy pregnancy and baby. New mothers learn how to promote the health, nutrition and growth of their baby. They also learn how to deal with the stress of parenthood without
resorting to dangerous forms of discipline. The program improves families' economic self-sufficiency by developing goals for their future, planning future pregnancies, continuing their education and finding work.
