Who in the @#$%$(^ Are These People?
I turn on the news and what do I hear?
- Congress sets artificial deadline to pass Health Care legislation; Republicans excluded from discussions; deals are cut to "buy" votes for bill passage; Democrats push for Health Care reform to keep Obama in office;
- After several months and copious debate, Obama finally decides on sending troops to Afghanistan; stated withdrawal deadline defeats the purpose;
- Global warming is a hoax; scientists falsify data; emission standards are designed to make Wall Street richer;
- Cap and Trade, or cap and "tax" will bankrupt the country; it's an enormous tax on the middle class;
- Man pulls balloon stunt to get on reality television; couple crashes White House party.
The list continues, but the people involved with these stories are not the ones that so deeply concern me. Yes, I do definitely care about these issues as so many people do, but most of these are issues which are being debated by intelligent and educated people with the intention of improving the general good. Because many of us associate very strongly with one side or the other on these issues, we tend to disagree with my last statement, but for the most part, although there may be some self-interest, there is no malintent from anyone.
Over the last week, I have stopped watching cable news shows and have started to watch some local news. Now when I say "Who in the @#$%$(^ Are These People?" consider the stories that they are broadcasting:
- 15 year old girl shot in the head;
- 6 police cruisers wrecked chasing stolen jeep;
- Cat burglar enters homes and watches women as they sleep;
- 20 month old baby beaten to death;
- Cab driver shot during robbery.
And, this is in one day from a 30 minute broadcast, where, at least, 20 minutes were used for commercials, weather, and sports.
So, I ask: Who in the @#$%$(^ Are These People?
I see where people have written blogs stating that they are angry and that they are not going to take it anymore, but they are talking about the issues that I first mentioned.
Who is mad as hell and not ready to take anymore of these other concerns?
I will answer part of the question about these "people".
They are not people; they are animals.
This still does not resolve this immense problem.
